Remember when Rage against the Machine humiliated Simon Cowell? “KILLING IN THE NAME” was the UK’s Christmas #1 chart topping song, defeating Cowell‘s X-factor pop slop. The celebratory victory concert at Finsbury Park for approx 90,000 fans (16 years ago this week) was both free and ferocious!
@MibshaD Extinction? WTF?
Some countries need higher birthrates to provide tax base for aging populations, but that's an economic issue.
In terms of ecology & the environment, over-population, & the consequences of growing populations, is a far bigger problem in short run than extinction
@DallasF81534236 Maybe, but my experience suggests that people who stay in one place & never travel have a sort of ignorance & lack of perspective in their world view/understanding of being a human alive now. I'm lucky enough to work in 5 countries and visit about 30 others. Travel=education.
@sheajordansmith@rlopezwfaa@wfaa The "gorilla in the room" is a popular idiom (often blended with the "elephant in the room") that refers to a massive, obvious problem or truth that everyone is aware of, but nobody wants to talk about
@Itx_judith His updated policy explicitly includes Pride Month alongside other cultural recognitions such as Women's History Month and Black History Month.
Do YOU support that?
🚨 SKYLINE REPORT
Trump claimed California Democrats are "stealing" and "rigging" the election.
When asked about it, California GOP gubernatorial candidate Steve Hilton didn't back the allegation with evidence.
Instead, Hilton said:
"We're watching everything very closely... At this point, we haven't seen any need to intervene in that way."
Translation: Lawyers ready. Evidence absent.
That's not a full repudiation of Trump's claims. Hilton continues to push broader "election integrity" concerns and criticism of California's election system.
But it's notable that when pressed on whether Democrats are actually stealing the election, Hilton acknowledged his campaign has not seen evidence requiring legal intervention.
If an election is being "rigged," you'd expect the candidate's own legal team to have something more substantial than "we're watching closely."
@mickymobile@Mac5180 lol. OK. I thought it might be easier to understand the nuances by asking someone rather than relying on a couple internet searches, especially given the potential for people to have widely different conceptions of political labels like "liberal" or "conservative"
@Mac5180@mickymobile Could you clarify what you mean by "republican" because I am pretty sure it is much different than what Americans mean by the same word.
