With three days until the first World Cup game in Houston, Judge Lina Hidalgo joined Kai Hennig, Dean of the Consular Corps and Consul General of Germany, to celebrate the international communities that will visit Harris County during the World Cup matches at a German soccer trivia night. Judge Hidalgo’s trivia team, which included Óscar "Boniek" García Ramírez, a former Dynamo player and Honduran football legend who represented Honduras in the 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cups, won the Fútbol trivia showdown.

Judge Lina Hidalgo joined Commissioner Rodney Ellis for the unveiling of the latest mural produced by Street Art For Mankind. “Fly Away,” located at 1820 Milam, was created by internationally acclaimed muralist INO. This piece celebrates Harris County’s innovation and serves as a reminder that it takes courage to make dreams happen against all odds.

Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo joined community leaders for the groundbreaking of the historic LULAC Council 60 Clubhouse, a landmark that helped shape the Mexican American civil rights movement in Harris County. As this space is restored, it will once again serve as a hub for community, education, and civic engagement.

On her third trade mission as Harris County Judge, Judge Hidalgo led a delegation to Germany, Portugal, and the Netherlands. The trade delegation consisting of members of our team, The Greater Houston Partnership in collaboration with Houston First and the FIFA World Cup 26™ Host Committee leveraged sports diplomacy to promote economic incentives and international investment opportunities in our region.
Highlights from the trade mission, included meeting with key businesses including BASF, the largest chemical producer in the world with operations in Houston, EDP Renewables, the largest company in Portugal and a global leader in the renewable energy sector that has its North American headquarters in Houston, and Arcadis, the world's leading company delivering sustainable design, engineering, and consultancy solutions for natural and built assets.
