Tip 4: the BFCM mistake I see every year is an ad or email that links to the homepage instead of the product that got the click. Link straight to the product or bundle. Don't make people hunt for the deal they already clicked on.
I'm adding right-click menus left and right to the software I'm building for myself.
Tiny example: deleting something from a list. You can right-click anywhere in the row and hit delete. You don't have to aim for a little button, and you don't have to clutter up every row with one either.
It's just a better interaction. Bigger target, faster to get to, cleaner list.
So it's interesting that it isn't the standard.
I feel like a lot of SaaS is built around making everything discoverable for someone who's using it for the first time. Which makes sense when you're trying to get a ton of people to adopt it.
But I'm the one building this thing. I know the right-click menu is there. I put it there.
There are all these subtle decisions baked into software that we kinda accept as the way it has to work. Then you start building for yourself and realize how many of them were made to help someone learn the software, even if they make it less convenient once you know it.
I can build for the way I use it every day.
Muse saved off arse last night
We had a critical domain that was expiring and should have autorenewed. But it had been moved to a different GoDaddy account, somehow by Google when they abandoned domains.
Muse caught it, told us urgently to renew it, we did
Thank you, Muse
My new side/main hustle.
Had a great call with @JordanGal yesterday. I think this
is going to be massive in the coming year.
Between phone system dead ends and voicemail, about half the calls I'm making to brands during business hours never reach a person.
And voicemail is a perfect place to pitch this.
Believe it or not, plumbers and electricians are way ahead of the curve compared to brands when it comes to AI phone agents.
