We can’t say enough about how thankful we are for our partnership with Publix and their commitment to serving the Troy community!

To wrap up our garden lessons for this year, the fifth grade classes got to do a blind taste test of peppers like are grown in our garden, and taste a delicious pasta primavera recipe using garden-based ingredients as well! The main point for today, “vegetables are YUMMY!” 🌶🥒🥕
When we think of people struggling with hunger, we typically think of people “over there,” wherever “there” may be. It’s easy to overlook our own challenges right here in Alabama, but 1 in 6 people (1 in 4 kids) struggle with hunger in our state. https://t.co/xxrNO0fYhP
Since @Publix opened in Troy, they have been committed to supporting this local community. Today, we began picking up bread that will be redirected to people in need, rather than wasted. Thank you Publix of Troy for partnering with us to be #hungerfighters and reduce #foodwaste!
Late post, but we couldn’t let the opportunity pass to thank our friends at CKP Auburn for their hospitality and CKP for such a fun regional pop-up summit last weekend in Auburn. We were thrilled to have our OCE staff and most dedicated volunteers represent CK Troy!
We made 200 meals today and could have kept going if we hadn’t run out of to-go boxes! Don’t worry, we put the rest in the freezer :-) It was fun to have @laurenecochran class join us today and have Tiffany back working the book like old times 🤠
Many of these items go straight into our Backpacks for Kids program ... we are blessed to have support from our university and our Greek organizations!
We are thankful for a partner like Sodexo that allows us to create balanced meals (protein, starch, and veggies) which we deliver to community agencies. Not only this, but they are gracious to let us use their facilities for meal prep as well! Thank you, Sodexo!
Yesterday we had the privilege of working with ladies from Chi Omega! They donated over 1500 items for our backpacks for kids program and helped us organize them! It was a fun afternoon event that really makes a difference in the fight against hunger in our community. Thanks, ΧΩ!
Our Raise the Dough campaign has begun! You can help not only by donating but sharing this link with your friends and family! Check out our story and donate here: https://t.co/QyG2KLix1f
We really appreciate our volunteers who live out the Trojan Spirit by donating to our backpacks for kids cause. Whether it’s large organizations or an individual like we had this morning, it all makes a difference!

Campus Kitchens is big on tackling hunger and food insecurity in our local communities. You may wonder, "What exactly is food insecurity?" Take a look at this explanation from Surgeon General Vivek H. Murphey, MD, MBA:

Clay keeps forgetting to take pictures until the very end of the shift ... 🤷🏻♂️ Oh well! It’s not about the pictures but the impact we get to make! Thanks for the effort of these volunteers today!
