🚨 TAX AUDIT UPDATE
The Tax Audit Report due date for AY 2026-27 is still 30 Sept 2026.
❌ No official extension has been notified yet. So, should you wait for an extension or prepare for the existing deadline? 🧵
The Meerut Branch of CIRC of ICAI has taken a united stand! More than 150 CAs have confirmed their participation in today's pen-down strike, which means no Tax or Income Tax Returns will be uploaded today.
This action is a clear sign of our collective resolve. We stand united for our rights and to make our voices heard.

The Clock is Ticking: Why an Extension for Tax Audit is Crucial
With the September 30th deadline for Tax Audit reports approaching, Chartered Accountants and taxpayers across the country are under tremendous pressure. The situation is not business as usual, and the demand for a due date extension is legitimate and urgent.
Here are the key reasons why a deadline extension is essential:
* Technical Glitches & Portal Issues: Despite previous extensions, the Income Tax e-filing portal continues to face technical issues, including slow loading times, session timeouts, and frequent crashes, especially during peak hours. This makes it extremely difficult to complete and submit reports on time.
* Delayed Utilities & Forms: The utilities and schemas for filing the new forms were released very late, leaving professionals with insufficient time to update their systems, train staff, and compile data accurately.
* Discrepancies in AIS/Form 26AS: Many professionals are still grappling with data mismatches and errors in the Annual Information Statement (AIS) and Form 26AS, which are critical for reconciliation before finalizing audits.
* Overlapping Compliance Deadlines: The simultaneous pressure of GST compliance and other statutory deadlines is adding to the immense workload, making it nearly impossible to meet all requirements without an extension.
In response to these challenges, tax associations and professional bodies have taken the matter to the judiciary. Petitions have been filed in the Rajasthan, Delhi, and Bombay High Courts, highlighting the ground realities and seeking judicial intervention.
We appeal to the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) and the Ministry of Finance to take note of the genuine difficulties faced by the tax fraternity and grant a fair extension to ensure smooth and accurate tax compliance for all.

TAR Extension - The main reason for demanding the TAR extension is shifting the ITR date from 31st July to 15th Sept. Technical glitches is the another reason .

I am sorry to note that inspite of the fact that TAR submission due date extention issue is allocable to all practicing CA (Several Thousands I understand) but only handful are raising their voice on X .
And we are talking of unity ?
#ExtendTaxAuditDueDate#ExtendAuditDueDate
Lack of unity among CAs causes babus to expect unrealistic assumptions & set us impossible deadlines.
CAs should unite, use tags, and trending #PenDownNoExtensionNoAudit.
If we all stop uploading, it will show unity. Today, there should be zero TAR uploads.

@FinMinIndia@nsitharamanoffc due dates of filing annual GST Return GSTR9 and GSTR 9C for F Y 2020-21 should be extended on practical grounds when last date for filing tax audit reports was 15.03.2022.
