I had a wonderful evening at the Committee of 100’s annual gala in DC not only meeting award-winning director Ang Lee but also catching up with many long-time friends!
MD voters: you're going to be seeing Question 3 on your ballot, and it's important. Short version is that voting YES on Q3 allows MD to fight Trump's red state redistricting efforts to control Congress. And if you want to learn more, check out 👇

Thank you to the United Maryland Muslim Council for hosting their candidate forum last night which brought in candidates from across the state. I had chance to highlight my work as the only physician and only Asian American in the Senate and the work that remains to be done.
Jessica Nichols has been a great educator, community advocate, and mentor for so many young adults--I'm really glad to stop by her picnic fundraiser yesterday to support her on her journey to become Howard County's next District 2 councilperson!
Thank you to the Maryland Governor's Office of Community Initiatives and the South Asian American Commission for organizing yesterday's Health Summit! It was an honor to participate on a panel discussing the future challenges and opportunities for healthcare in Maryland.
A beautiful evening to celebrate "Double 10 Day", recognizing Taiwan's National Independence Day on 10/10 with Maryland Secretary of State Susan Lee and with colleagues from across the aisle and across the hall--Senator Mike McKay and Delegate Mike Rogers.
It's time to fight back and show that racism and xenophobia have no place in the General Assembly. For the first time, the AAPI Legislative Caucus has formed a campaign arm to help get more AAPI candidates and allies elected. We've raised over $60,000, and we're not holding back!
As the only physician in the Senate, I enjoyed stopping by Shri Mangal Mandir in MoCo, for their 15th annual health fair. They're doing amazing work bringing in volunteer physicians, specialists, and even dentist to provide free care, screening, and vaccinations to those in need!
Thank you to the Anne Arundel League of Women Voters for hosting last night's candidate forum--great questions and discussion! Look forward to serving with this new Senate delegation and with our new Democratic team in neighboring District 31!
Congratulations to Mt. Pisgah AME Church of Columbia on your 125th anniversary! I was glad to be able to recognize this important milestone for such a historical institution that has touched the lives of thousands of families in our community.
The first meeting of our Senate Asian American & Pacific Islander Legislative Caucus! I'm glad to be joined by new @MDSenate colleagues @marksoochang and Amar Mukunda for the 2027 legislative session. This will be the largest number of AAPI members in the history of the Senate!
I was glad to join Joan Barone Cole in Severna Park to support her campaign for State Delegate! It's time for some change in Anne Arundel County, so if you live in District 31, help spread the word, knock on doors, make phone calls, put up a sign, and most importantly, go vote!
This one is personal for me--because I'm a District 4 constituent of Janssen Evelyn! It was my honor to speak at his fundraiser yesterday, and I look forward to having him as my Howard County Councilperson.
Maiwand Kabob has grown to become one of the best Afghan restaurants in Maryland, and Comptroller Brooke Lierman and I were pleased to celebrate their 25th anniversary with owner Rukhshana Rafiq!
A little bit of rain, but nothing to dampen the spirits at the 37th annual Linthicum Community Fair and Parade yesterday! And congratulations to the new Mayor of North Linthicum, Jeff Calloway.
Glad to be able to stop by the recent fundraisers of my two colleagues in District 9A--Western Howard and Montgomery Counties, Delegates Chao Wu and Natalie Ziegler! They're hard-working, down-to-earth legislators who are always advocating for their constituents in Annapolis.
I've had some great CAPA interns in my legislative office over the years, and so it was a pleasure providing one of the keynote addresses at CAPA's internship graduation and awards ceremony yesterday!
A great day to celebrate the Taiwan Bubble Tea Festival in Rockville today--one of largest bubble tea festivals in the country! Thank you to the Rockville City Council and Mayor for being such great hosts.
Thank you to the Non-Resident Pakistanis of Washington DC for this recognition of my work to support the Pakistani American and Muslim communities in Maryland! Maryland is home to about 25,000 Pakistanis and is seventh in the nation.
