🚨 NEW: We’re scrapping single headline Ofsted judgements with immediate effect.
Ofsted judgements have been high stakes for schools, low information for parents.
Well:
✅ Give parents more transparency
✅ Drive high & rising standards
✅ Pave the way for school report cards
The next exhibition at @britishlibrary will be Medieval Women: In Their Own Words (October 25th) & YES we will have a beautiful book to accompany it.
@MollyAitken1 So Femina is good- very badass non fiction and great summary. Matrix by Lauren Groff is fiction, but based on a real person. Also great. For thy great pains is good- sort of fiction, but uses a lot of the real words of Margery Kempe and Julian of Norwich.
Possibly my greatest ever purchase. Bayeux Tapestry bedsheet!
Yes I bought it after a couple of glasses of wine. No I don’t regret it.
Eye-rolling teenage boys holding it for scale.
Teachers are getting a well-deserved pay rise.
The Conservatives left the profession overstretched and undervalued. We said we’d change that, and we meant it.
We welcome the announcement today that teachers will be awarded a fully funded 5.5% pay award. This is a necessary first step in reversing the real terms cuts inflicted upon the profession over the last 14 years. #ValueEducators

@katiehall1979 For the love of god, @katiehall1979! That episode with the small man on the squeaky cart. STILL not suitable for me, or @apattersonlee, or any of the children. Series 8 I think.
It’s the kids that keep you in the job. They are brilliantly bonkers.
Here are two portraits of me different students have done (I mean, just why?). One on a spoon.
I am honoured to have been asked to serve as Secretary of State for Education.
We pledged change and we will deliver the most crucial changes of all:
High and rising standards
More opportunity
The best life chances for all children
That work starts now.
It says a lot when the education secretary visits a boarding school of 350 students, and doesn’t bother with any of the 10 Wokingham borough state secondaries- that’s 10,000+ students. All those schools have just as high aspirations.
Delighted to welcome Education Secretary @GillianKeegan to Wokingham for a visit to @LuckleyHouse. As Conservatives we’re fighting to stop left-wing plans to tax independent school families. Labour and Lib Dems are anti-aspiration and have no plan for expanding state schools.
We’re big fans of @Fi_BGB. Thanks so much for speaking to our two local schools yesterday. You were fabulous, had an incredible hat, did amazing things with sweet potatoes, and had 150 children singing hilarious songs.
