“Thomas Raddall Provincial Park Closed
Due to an active wildfire in East Port L’Hebert, Thomas Raddall Provincial Park is closed to all visitors until further notice. Please avoid the area during the closure.”
Full weekend closure of the Angus L. Macdonald Bridge, beginning Friday, April 17 at 8 p.m.
Angus L. Macdonald Bridge will be closed to all traffic from 8 p.m. Friday, April 17 to 5:30 a.m. Monday, April 20 as work begins on Phase 2 of Project LifeSpan, a major maintenance initiative to ensure the bridge remains safe and reliable for decades to come.
This phase of the project will focus on the Halifax Tower, following similar work completed on the Dartmouth Tower in 2025. Crews will blast away old paint, inspect the exposed steel, carry out any necessary repairs, and apply a new coating system designed to protect the structure from corrosion and extend its lifespan.
The weekend work will also require the closure of the bridge’s pedestrian walkway and bicycle lane.
To support those who normally walk or cycle across the bridge, free bus tickets (maximum four per person) will be available for weekend travel while these lanes are closed. Tickets can be picked up at any time, beginning Wednesday morning at the Macdonald Bridge Administration Building, 125 Wyse Road (located at the Dartmouth end of the bridge).
Once this initial weekend work is complete, pedestrians and cyclists should note that the bridge will be considered an active construction site for the duration of the project. Cyclists are urged to use extra caution near the tower area and obey all posted traffic signs and instructions throughout the work season.
Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra time for any delays, and use the A.Murray MacKay Bridge during the closure.

Bedford Place Mall: "Well… the secret’s out - FreshCo is coming to Bedford Place this year!
We were planning a big reveal, but sometimes the news gets around faster than a shopping cart on a Friday afternoon. Get ready for fresh finds, great deals, and plenty of reasons to swing by — we can’t wait to welcome FreshCo to the neighbourhood!"
FESTIVE REMINDER: Treating a cashier like garbage won't fix:
1) Grocery prices
2) The line up
3) A wonky cart wheel
4) Any future inconveniences in your life
5) You leaving it until the last minute
6) You being a piece of shit

🔥 Chimney & Fireplace Safety Reminder
Yesterday, #hfxfirefighters responded to two separate chimney and fireplace-related incidents in HRM.
Late in the morning, our members were called to a home on Purcells Cove Road after reports of smoke in a home. #hfxfirefighters arrived and determined the cause to be a backed up fireplace and the situation was brought under control.
Later in the evening, our members responded to a second call for a chimney fire on Preston Street. Crews arrived to an active chimney fire and quickly extinguished it. Luckily, no extension was found.
With colder weather settling in, many households are turning to wood stoves, fireplaces, and other heating appliances. These calls are an important reminder:
✔️ Have your chimney cleaned and inspected annually
✔️ Ensure your wood-burning or fuel-burning appliances are properly serviced
✔️ Use dry, seasoned wood and never overload your stove or fireplace
✔️ Check that smoke and CO alarms are working
Regular maintenance goes a long way in preventing fires and keeping your family safe throughout the winter season.
