The lawyer for Houston Tipping, killed during an LAPD training exercise, was involved the investigation of a rape by four LAPD officers. According to Gage, one of those officers was directly involved in the beating.

@MKEMarlow I think what's OK to joke about is extremely context dependent. It's a much more interesting question than either everything or nothing. It is a shifting set of rules and standards that we apply to ourselves without thinking about it.
@hausofdecline IMO, Anyone can try to joke about anything, but the success of the joke is the responsibility of the comedian and their relationship with the audience. That's a huge part of all oratory, ethos. If you're clearly punching down, of course you're going to fail.
Also the fact that this idea of "censorship" took place in the context of Viacom not allowing them to depict Mohammed. You could have quit the show and depicted Mohammed if you wanted to, but you also wanted your millions of dollars. So I guess you're not actually that principled
South Park rightly catches a lot of flak for their vicious transphobia, but one of the things I hate most about the show is in their Family Guy episode they put forth "either everything's OK to joke about or nothing's OK" which is one of the dumbest theories of comedy
