In Jan 2017 we started a blog where those interested in social justice in Classics could collect resources, post opinion pieces, present write-ups of meetings and events. In 2017 the blog had 11 000 views from 6 000 visitors.
Hi all, we're thinking about the next year and what we should be doing as a community. We'd love some input:
Is there any way that we can help people with the fallout from the exhausting year? Can we be more of a support network than yet another drain on people's energy/time?
LCOC is holding its first symposium! This is an informal academic and social event for all students to present research on any topics relating to classics, decolonisation, and race.
A new entry in our LUMINARIES interview series: Prof. Tracey Walters talks about her first encounters with Black women writers who "managed to democratize and appropriate Classics while also challenging the role of Classics as a marker of legitimacy." https://t.co/RYi49cNIfv
Broken my blog hiatus to offer a write-up of a racist incident on the Classicists list this week, and why this event and yesterday's Sportula Europe x London Classicist of Colour panel discussion both show why BIPOC-only spaces are so valuable in Classics. https://t.co/A7LYqGqXQd

Trans rights are human rights, and human rights are trans rights. Classics should have no room for transphobia (including TERF transphobia) and zero tolerance of harassment. The greater your megaphone, the greater your responsibility to use it safely & humanely. #ClassicsTwitter
Thread 🧵 updated with links to some Classics-specific resources about trans, non-binary and GNC people in antiquity and in ancient world studies. Standing against transphobia also means learning from & uplifting trans perspectives, and working to make higher ed. more inclusive.

Alright US #ClassicsTwitter folks. I have gone through Alok Vaid-Menon's "Book Reports" as well as collated sources from a couple of other sources to try and make a list similar to that made by @MixedClassicist (1/)
Hi all! With the help of @TransinClassics I’ve arranged a Zoom social for trans and nonbinary Classicists, this Saturday. It’s been a heavy week for everyone, and I hope this will be an opportunity to foster a warm, friendly, and supportive environment.
