This morning Pearl class are writing programming instructions to get the bee bot to the flower. We are applying our knowledge of directional language to make sure it doesn't go the wrong way! #maths#computing#beebot#year1
We explored the features of dinosaurs and how these adaptations might have helped them survive. We noticed that many carnivorous dinosaurs walked on 2 feet. "Maybe they walked on 2 feet so they could move faster to catch their prey." #STEMweek#dinosaur#Year1#learning
Today we discovered buried fossilised dinosaur bones! We found a spine, feet, eggs and even a skull!
One of our excellent young paleontologists suggested: "I think the skull is a velociraptor skull because they were quite small dinosaurs." #STEM#learning#ambition
This week Pearl have been learning to measure with non-standard units. Our favourite unit is cubes because you can group them in fives or tens to count them more quickly!
Dydd gwyl Dewi hapus! Happy St David's day! Today Pearl Class learned some Welsh phrases(Bore da pawb). We also learned about St David and how his day is celebrated in Welsh schools with traditional costumes and an Eisteddfod.
With mental health week coming to a close, Miss Parker is delighted to have received the #MugOfPlenty today! Pearl class will be having an afternoon of mindfulness and creative activities to wind down after an intense week of story writing. #ElaineWellbeing
We began our next art learning journey by exploring Banksy's work and practising using shading techniques to create shadow while sketching colourful balloons. #year1#balloons#art
Our final outcome from Topic this term is a video discussing our learning journey. We went on a trip and had visitors in to learn more about different jobs. See what we want to be when we grow up here: https://t.co/005kyNp4tm

Creating our final Art outcome in the cubist style. We have chosen stereotypical 'boy' colours with one 'girl' colour to challenge gender stereotypes. Next we will add facial features. Stay tuned for the finished piece! #art#yearone#learning#painting#gender
Today, leaders across @InspireSELondon worked with staff & pupils from @PrimaryElaine to evaluate their progress since joining our Trust. It was an amazing day with so much to celebrate. The school is an unrecognisable place to learn. Proof that collaboration & partnerships work!
Today we had two very special visitors. They told us all about their jobs as paramedics and taught us what to do if we find someone unconscious. #learning#jobroles#aspirations#YearOne
