THREAD | Part 1 of the @TwitchCon Europe / Berlin photos:
Purple through and through. #TwitchCon was one of the most stylish conventions I have ever been to. So many areas looked really nice, especially because of the on point lighting.
I may be in a bubble here, but I don't think this idea that genAI will start being more broadly accepted in creative projects has panned out, even as the tech has gotten technically better.
There's just relentless hate for AI movie, game, written content, and there are essential no tangible successes with these sorts of things outside of the rare song that may trick people on Spotify. Mindsets don't seem to be changing much, if at all. Or they're even getting more critical.
AI technical tool use is another story, but actual, generated creative ("creative") work remains ass
PICARD: Data, shields up
DATA: Brilliant! Shields can reduce damage we sustain. Not immunity. Not hubris. Just prudence. It's not precautionβit's strategy.

WORF: HULL BREACHES ON NINE DECKS
DATA: Here's what happened: you told me to raise shields, and I didn't
At dark times, at times of war, stories need to mirror the reality, to register it - so that the lessons of these times are never forgotten. Metro 2039 is a such a mirror. But, as expected of mirrors, you will see your own reflection when you look at it. Who are you?
This local Wolfdog joined an Olympic ski event and triggered the finish-line camera. This is Nazgul. He snuck into a cross-country skiing sprint this morning and raced the homestretch with some competitors before being escorted home. 14/10 someone get him a medal

The reason why RAM has become four times more expensive is that a huge amount of RAM that has not yet been produced was purchased with non-existent money to be installed in GPUs that also have not yet been produced, in order to place them in data centers that have not yet been built, powered by infrastructure that may never appear, to satisfy demand that does not actually exist and to obtain profit that is mathematically impossible.
People are underwhelmed and outright pissed because the computing industry and engineers of software platforms including one as ubiquitous as Windows have been pervaded by incompetents as well as unelected, socially divorced technocrats who can't help but see the precise input and control from a human user and the privacy of the involved data as a limitation in the way of some ridiculous AI-driven "utopia" rather than the way things should just be
Nicolas Cage says "protect yourselves from AI."
βThere is another world that is also disturbing me, and itβs happening right now around all of us β the new AI world. I am a big believer in not letting robots dream for us. Robots cannot reflect the human condition for us. That is a dead end if an actor lets one AI robot manipulate his or her performance even a little bit, an inch will eventually become a mile and all integrity, purity and truth of art will be replaced by financial interests only. We canβt let that happen. The job of all art in my view, film performance included, is to hold a mirror to the external and internal stories of the human condition through the very human thoughtful and emotional process of recreation. A robot canβt do that. If we let robots do that, it will lack all heart and eventually lose edge and turn to mush. There will be no human response to life as we know it. It will be life as robots tell us to know it. I say, protect yourselves from AI interfering with your authentic and honest expressions.β

Not cool π
Truly incredible how so much journalism still refers to AI as world-changing technology and just leaves off the part that the change is clearly and demonstrably for the worse.
Only source: founder of the "AI talent studio".
Deadline is running PR, because they moderated the panel and exclusively announced the studio just a few days ago.
DON'T FALL FOR THE BAIT. They are wishing this into existence.
