Today is first day of Ireland’s EU Presidency
Its going to cost the Irish taxpayer over €300m.
Thats 3x the amount Cyprus just spent, €95m
and 4x what Denmark spent, €80m.
Most of the money is going to:
Gardaí & security €125m
Dept of Foreign Affairs €65m
OPW will get €51m.
But what are they spending it on???
This E-Tender shows €131,000 will be spent on woollen scarf mementos for the 4,500 EU delegates.
6 months of waste & pageantry lie ahead.
"The Taoiseach believes that we have a parliamentary system, but at the same time is ignoring his parliamentary party": Aontú leader Peadar Toibín slams Taoiseach Micheál Martin's reasoning for not holding a referendum on the Triple Lock.
People Before Profit refuse to answer a Gript question about the Triple Lock, refusing to speak to @Ben_Scallan and dismissing the question through their press officer.
An Irish Times journalist then repeats Gript's question, which Paul Murphy immediately answers.
If they released the figures of foreign born people in social housing, they would never come back from it.
There would be clear evidence that the Irish are treated like second class citizens in Ireland.

Team suspected of spying on training sessions - EFL conducts an investigation within a week and kicks the team out of a competition immediately
115 financial charges - PL will get back to you on that in a few years
FLASHBACK: In 2016, just 19 days before a general election, then-Minister of State Simon Harris told the public that it was Fine Gael's "absolute commitment" to do away with the "hated USC" over the lifetime of that Government, stating: "We need to abolish it."
I'll make a longform YouTube video on this.
It will be a good opportunity to go through everything and show people how state-funded media frames a story.
Luckily this is about me, I have everything recorded and I have the platform to show people exactly how this works.
They take more money from fuel than it costs to produce it.
They could end the protest tomorrow by reducing the costs they unfairly place on you.

Today is 8 weeks to the day since an African woman drove a bus into a crowd of Irish people, killing local man Frank Daly and injuring several others.
Despite early claims by the media that the driver had experienced a "medical episode", that was quickly debunked by gardaí. However, she is yet to be charged and the media have essentially stopped talking about the incident.
In fact two weeks ago the Irish state broadcaster RTE ran a piece about a dancing migrant bus driver "spreading joy throughout Dublin."
The government wants you to forget about this incident, they want you to forget about Frank Daly.
Don't let that happen.
Today I$rael tried to kill me in a targeted airstrike in southern Lebanon as I was reporting on was the targeting of bridges and the forced displacement of 1 million people, an ethnic cleansing operation on a larger scale than the Nakba
I have absolutely no doubt that this was deliberate. Despite claims there were no warnings ahead of the strike and no notifications sent to the Lebanese Army who allowed us to film
As we have seen in Gaza they want to silence journalists who document and report their war crimes
It is the western powers who provide political and military support for I$rael, arming it to the teeth to carry out genocide in Gaza and ethnic cleansing here in Lebanon. They are not simply complicit, but active participants and should be held accountable for their actions.
But if I$rael thinks today’s strike will silence us and keep us out of the field they are very, very mistaken
