Ah ah ah.
So SHINY HAPPY PEOPLE won the Bram Stoker Award for Superior Achievement in a YA Novel last night. I’m in my hotel room, just staring at this award, and I’m thinking of all the people who made this possible… and how I never want to take that support for granted.
Never got my hands on some middlegrade southern gothic before, but that’s all changed thanks to J. Kasper Kramer sharing her new novel SERPENT ON THE MOUNTAIN with me. So wild. Really excited to dig into this one. Thanks for sending this my way! On shelves 6/16.
Consider donating to Raw Dog Screaming Press’s Kickstarter campaign for the upcoming ABANDONED: ASYLUM anthology, edited by James Chambers. I’ve got a story on here, along with some other wonderful writers. Check it out here: https://t.co/WifOY6P2Qk @mothman1313@RDSPress
Reader reviews are not for writers.
I’m taking 10 of my favorite Goodreads reviews for DEVIL INSIDE (positive, negative or otherwise) and serenading them back.
This week is a 4 star review from ScarlettAnomalyReads. Thank you, Scarlett!
DEVIL INSIDE hits shelves 8/11/26!
Just found out the paperback edition of WAKE UP AND OPEN YOUR EYES is already going into a second printing and that made me rully rully happy. Thank you @quirkbooks
I get to moderate a virtual chat with editors Shane Hawk and Theodore C. Van Alst Jr. for Summer Scares/New York Public Library on 6/22, which is free for all: https://t.co/wb1Q91j69d
Waiting for the bus, gonna read some ghost stories: NEVER WHISTLE AT NIGHT PT: II BACK FOR BLOOD brings readers another round of horror stories by Indigenous authors. On shelves 8/18 from Vintage. I flipped the book over as I was taking this pic and look what I found! So cool.
Super cool to see both Unquiet Guests, edited by Dan Coxon, and Night & Day, edited by Ellen Datlow, amongst the nominees.
I’ll sit in the corner now.
I’m not saying putting me in your anthologies gets you nominated for a Shirley Jackson Award, but I’m not-not saying it doesn’t hurt…
Actually all I’m trying to say is congratulations to the nominees for this year’s award for Best Edited Anthology.
Took the boyz to the Audible Story House, where we got to listen to our fill of audiobooks. Highlights include 1984 in a full-blown surround sound listenatoriumn, a book-bartender serving C-Dawg The Weirdies, and… I, um, may have listened to a bit of WAKE UP AND OPEN YOUR EYES
