I had an incredible week exploring @RockyNPS with @FHSUteachered students. Definitely an amazing and memorable experience with some amazing future teachers!
Early this morning, I went to try a 360 video idea I have been thinking about a while to allow students to imagine nocturnal life, which was hopefully accomplished by using lanterns with red filters. It will be a while before I know if it turned out, but it was fun to experiment.
One last 360 video state park for the 23-24 school year as @FHSUteachered student Morgan Staab (w/ a couple helpers) braved the wind to record videos at Little Jerusalem SP to pair with lessons on fossils.

Rounding out the month of state park trips, @FHSUteachered and @FHSUOnline student Calena Awesome joined Dr. Crawford and I to record 360 video to document landscape change in El Dorado State Park. This was the 7th state park and 14th student to participate this year!
Another great state park weekend, this time in Kanopolis and Mushroom Rocks. Cheyenne, Isabel, and Eos documented so many amazing things including habitats, erosion, a cave, and a very friendly lizard. @FHSUteachered
@FHSUteachered students Claudia, Jailyn, and Cameron traveled to Wilson State Park this weekend to record 360 video focused on the rock cycle and human interactions with nature.
I am super proud of @FHSUteachered students Morgan Barba and Kaylee Horn who traveled to Clinton State Park to capture 360 video related to habitat and natural resources.
We had a fun guest speaker for our music students in Secondary School today, my father in law Charlie Fraley sharing how to do the instrument repairs needed to keep a school band program going, especially in rural communities.
I am accepting lesson plan chapter abstracts for the upcoming "360 Video and Remote Exploration." No prior experience with 360 video is necessary to submit and I am more than happy to answer questions folks might have. Open to all grade levels/content areas.
American climber and filmmaker David Breashears has died at age 68.
Breashears was one of the most influential figures in Himalayan mountaineering, and his films helped millions of people learn about Mount Everest:

I'm always appreciative of Ian at @SternbergMuseum for taking time to talk to our science methods class both about the resources available for teachers, but also techniques that teachers can borrow from the informal education world.
Another group of @FHSUteachered students working on 360 video, this time at Cedar Bluff. Khloee, Thane, and Lacy collected videos related to the unique geology of plants.
I'm so proud of @FHSUteachered students Skylar & Nikolette who braved snow & a cold night of camping in the 1st trip of the 360 video state park project. They collected videos that highlight differences in plant communities and interactions between humans and the landscape.
@TheSFGabides Is there a link between grades and learning in practice? Compliance, sure, but grades and learning seems like a heck of an unproven given in many cases.
