While supervising my granddaughter's online kindergarten today, we received a message announcing that next week would be Spirit Week. As a secondary educator, I did my best to explain it to her. Monday is "pajama day." She is beyond excited! When do our kids lose this excitement?

Today the teacher was late to online kindergarten so the kids started telling jokes. Watching my granddaughter connect with her classmates was amazing. The teacher entered and realized something special was happening and gave them time to be kindergartners together. Thank you!

It is a privilege to watch my granddaughter’s online kindergarten teachers in action. Today the noise in one home was quite impressive and her teacher responds with “There is a lot of learning happening in your house today. Remember to mute when you aren’t sharing.” Brilliant!

@mr_Alsheimer I am supervising my granddaughter’s online kindergarten and I am a retired secondary educator. When her teacher says her name, her entire demeanor changes. I watch in wonder at the power of simply recognizing and naming her.

@MrsHLevine Anti-racist practices absolutely do not belong on a list to vote up or down! If it doesn't register enough votes, it won't be addressed this school year? We will put it on the list and see if it "wins" next year?? Oh my...this is truly troubling!

@morningmika I don’t understand how a “wartime president” allows states to operate independently. I can’t think of a single “war” where states individually decided whether to send their residents into battle. Indiana decides against Vietnam but Ohio goes??

@GuptonFCS_LHS My lesson plans are an ongoing journal that documents everything that happens in class (one notebook for each class). It's open the entire class period. I take notes (who was absent, tired, questions asked). My plans are my story.

@ModestTeacher Listening and reading require different strategies for making meaning of difficult text. For me, if it's strategy driven, it's reading.

@DjBarrettCruz I write a letter to my students (freshmen) not the sub with the lesson plans for the day. The "visiting learner" is invited to join them in the lesson.

@GaryRGrayJr Maybe introduce strategies during freewriting time that will help narrow the topic and expand details or experiment with language (looping, quote/response, etc.). Writing time + owning your process - a total "win-win."
