@schmangee I don’t think those people want your sympathy. People can state that something is stressful/uncomfortable without it being a competition. Anxiety at its core is illogical, so it’s pointless for anyone to try to judge whether someone else’s reason for stressing is “good enough”.

@AllisonLCarter I think this would fall under reasonable accommodations though. Yes, press availability is a job requirement, but there are ways to accommodate her disability: one-on-one media sessions, written statements, an intermediary speaker, etc. Just like accommodating physical issues.

If we really want to fix journalism we should provide trauma informed training for entry level reporters before sending them to knock on doors of people who just lost loved ones.

We treat it like a rite of passage when in reality it’s traumatizing for all parties involved.

@magee333 @citygalsports Regardless of how you feel about prison welfare/rights, I think they’re primarily doing it for the safety of the prison personnel. Our state DOC has had 1500+ cases and 4 deaths just among staff, despite precautions. So I’m sure the staff is relieved.
