At this point, I regret this tweet not because of what I said but because of how many people have attacked @PeterHotez. I saw that someone even visited him at his home which is totally unacceptable. On one hand, I believe if you’re going to criticize a platform or person for spreading nonsense and misinformation, and you spend your life encouraging people to take a particular vaccine, or you shame those that choose not to take the vaccine, you should be willing to defend your position as well as prove what you call nonsense and misinformation. On the other hand, I don’t believe anyone should be bullied into having a debate or doing something they are uncomfortable with. This is a topic worth having a civil and respectful debate and @joerogan’s podcast is the premier platform to have it on because it will be viewed by millions. We have to get back to a society that can disagree without being so damn disagreeable. I still hope a healthy and passionate but respectful debate happens between the two sides, even if it’s not between RFK and Professor Hotez.
