Another angle of the earlier video... ๐
----------
Meriden, CT police officer Anthony Offiaeli responds to a domestic violence call and sees Robert Lee Jenkins III (38) beating a man later identified as his father with a baseball bat.
Officer Offiaeli orders the man to drop the bat but he continues bashing his father's skull in prompting officer Offiaeli to open fire with his Gen5 Glock 17 from a distance of 3-7 yards.
Based on the footage, it seems the first 16 shots either were either all misses or *at best* non CNS hits. The 17th and 18th shots fired from less than 10 feet did stop the suspect and Mr. Jenkins III died on the scene saving taxpayers millions of dollars.
With all of that out of the way - this is completely unacceptable performance from the cop. LUCKILY no innocent bystanders were hit by all of his errant shots but in a different environment they certainly could have been.
This was about as easy as an officer involved shooting gets. The suspect wasn't shooting back. He wasn't moving laterally. He allowed the officer to close the distance and provided a huge torso target not behind cover nor concealment.
Train to be your own first responder accordingly...
