Abba and Micheal (full names withheld) from Borno and Cross Rivers States, respectively, were arrested, charged to court and remanded at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre on allegations of stealing.

@jerobans We are pleased to announce that on March 25, 2025, the charges against Abba and Michael were dropped, and the case was struck out. Both men have regained their freedom and have reunited with their families.

On January 2, 2025, we got probationary approval from @CorrectionsNg to provide free legal services for 3 awaiting trial at Kirikiri Medium Custodial Centre. We visited on 17 January 2025 to interview, screen and document the inmates. Thanks to our partners and volunteer lawyers

70% of inmates in Nigerian Correctional Centres have not been convicted or sentenced. They live in overcrowded cells with inadequate food and medical care, resulting in many dying before receiving justice.

Officially, bail is #free in Nigeria. Every suspect is presumed innocent. Therefore, he is entitled to freedom after meeting certain conditions, except the offense is severe and may want capital punishment.
