Did you know? CLIEDIS is using twitter to communicate quick factoids and information about data feeds, resources, and processes to its members. Follow us to hear the latest.
CITS API Design Principles are now available for member review! Adoption of these standard principles ensures a common repeatable approach is applied across all CITS APIs, making external facing APIs for distributors much easier, faster, and cheaper to implement.

Did you know? A change made for one company can break another’s processing. If distributors request one-off changes or additions directly from a carrier, consult with CLIEDIS FIRST so that it’s addressed in a standard way and won’t break others getting a feed.
Did you know? Both distributors and their vendors need to know of changes well in advance whether it’s just a new product, new feature or major feed revisions. CLIEDIS can help you identify what and when to communicate.
Did you know? All feed changes, no matter how small to you, can be big to the receiver. Get all changes approved by CLIEDIS prior to being released. We ensure the feed changes are correct and assess the impact they may have on recipients.
2021 is almost upon us. A new year, along with renewed hopes of normalcy are on almost everyone’s mind. CLIEDIS wishes you a joyous new year and we hope to be seeing everyone soon. Until then, stay safe and stay healthy.
It’s been an incredibly tough year on everyone and to quote a poem someone recently sent me “Christmas is not cancelled, and neither is hope. If we lean on each other, I know we can cope”. To all on behalf of CLIEDIS, Happy Holidays and stay safe.
Did you know? The 3 main feeds CLIEDIS promotes work in concert to provide accurate information about a policy throughout its life cycle, whether it’s new business or something on the books from 40 years ago.
Did you know? CITS feeds are the mechanism for loading and storing complete books of business used for reporting. Even with the introduction of CITS APIs, the feeds will not be replaced. Why? Because you will always need to be able to run cross company reports.
Did you know? Consuming a new feed takes planning & development. Even if a vendor already gets the feed from someone else, they test and codify for a carrier’s products and use cases, and those pesky exceptions. Vendors need advance notice of a new feed. LOTS of advance notice.
Did you know? Half the CITS feed issues reported to CLIEDIS are really a result of vendor processing. CLIEDIS can help figure out where the problem is and what to do about it.
Did you know? While Carriers create the feeds and then their project is done, distributors use those feeds every single day throughout the day. That’s why we push so hard during the approval process, so no one is dealing with complaints every single day throughout the day.
Did you know? Feeds are not a once and done process. They MUST be maintained. Issues, back end process changes, new products, new requirements, new system features ALL IMPACT THE FEED. Carriers need resources in place to deal with maintenance.
Did you know? Images coming in the Application Notification feed are important. If they’re not in the feed, distributors have to go find them, match them, load them. Quite a pain. Not sending them today? Let’s get them in there!
Did you know? Distributors don’t like surprises when it comes to data feeds. They want to know what they are getting. If the feed has problems, better to let them know then discover it themselves.
Did you know? The Application Notification feed sets a policy up in a system removing the need for a distributor to have to manually enter those cases. Works the same whether it’s an eApp or paper application, so we want both in there.
While today’s situation may have been unpredictable, companies that already invested in building feeds are readily able to support distribution electronically. Investments in building CITS data feeds are paying off big time.
