The 1950 World Series also featured the Phillies, who were the last all-white pennant winner in the NL. This year's Phillies are also extremely white, with just five players of color on the NLCS roster (all Latino), none of whom are stars, and three of whom are pitchers.

Bros (2022) Billy Eichner & Nicholas Stoller's NYC romcom about gay men sets out to do a lot of things & largely succeeds. It's funny, it's unfiltered, it's full of signifiers & it's true to its genre tropes. The rare "gay" film without physical or emotional violence. Support it.

Bullets or Ballots (1936) This ripped-from-the-headlines NYC crime film can be preachy but has a compelling follow-the-money message & finds its groove w/ Edward G. Robinson & Humphrey Bogart as a grizzled ex-cop & mafia heavy, respectively, on a collision course. Also Blondell.
