Un policier, Manuel, a insulté et frappé Ousmane, 17 ans, alors que le jeune homme était simplement assis et n’avait rien fait.

Pendant 16 minutes : injures racistes, coups au visage, plaquage au sol.

Puis le fonctionnaire a menti dans son procès-verbal et a porté plainte contre le mineur pour « violences et rébellion ».

Sans la caméra-piéton qui s’est déclenchée à son insu, Ousmane se serait retrouvé seul face à la justice, avec la parole d’un policier contre la sienne.

Au tribunal, le policier a reconnu les faits, présenté ses excuses et dit avoir « honte ».

Condamnation : 8 mois de prison avec sursis + 2 ans d’interdiction d’exercer sur la voie publique.

Once again, our call for physical media isn’t just about collecting discs because we’re used to them since our childhood, it’s about the principle of ownership, options and access🚀

The entertainment industry is changing as a whole, and not for the better:

❌Digital purchases disappear w/o refund
❌Access hindered by network outage

❌Lack of alternatives lead to high pricing

We are not calling for the end of digital media, we are calling for maintaining physical media and more protections for digital media owners, the same way music, film and books are.

NO DISC 💿 NO BUY is about pressuring corporations to continue to offer the physical alternative, rather than ending digital purchases.

We are refusing to buy digital games for the time being until this new plan is overturned. That is the objective.

Please direct your frustrations at corporations who are charging you more for less, rather than splitting hairs to attack your fellow gamers who mean no harm to you.

So hear me out:

✅PCs and consoles became more expensive due to data centers

✅Now they want you to rent out data centers instead of the hardware that data centers caused to be overpriced

The same way they push physical games away:

❌We had was a box with a disc, a manual, a map and maybe another game’s demo

❌Then they took the items, then the map

❌And then they started making the game on disc require download or always being connected even for some single player games

❌Then they started counting DLC, MTX, free-to-play and digital only to inflate digital sales statistics and make it seem like physical games aren’t in demand, when even %10 is still million of people

❌Now they wanna take away disc, and to give you a code n the box, while the prices keep rising, while value and options keeps declining

This is their next step to making you own nothing, lock you into their ecosystem so you can remain subscribed and paying for their slop forever.

They will gaslight you into thinking “downloading games makes no sense, streaming is the way!”

Just like how the hypocrite argues physical games are like vinyl records and that “Sony knows better” when Sony themselves are marketing vinyl record players are the best way to listen to music and vinyl record sales are so high that artists release many variants to boost their album to No.1

And it’s crazy that gaming is the medium that needs physical media the most, as it’s the most demanding in terms of downloads and streaming compared to music, film, books and shows, all of which are far easier to access via download or streaming for a long time.

And as usual, gaming is the one industry where the customer is always assumed to be “wrong, entitled and toxic” and treated like children and expected to spend like adults, and also expected to worry about profits for CEOs, studio closures, and basically everything but their own best interest.

Enough is enough!

Stand up for your own self interest, before it’s too late for any meaningful change to happen.

Tengo 45 años.

Y por primera vez en mi vida, me siento fuera de lugar en mi propio lugar.

Crecí contando arañazos en las carátulas. Soplando cartuchos aunque me dijeran que no servía de nada. Esperando a que mi madre me llevara al videoclub a alquilar un juego de megadrive y mirando el manual de camino a casa como si fuera un tesoro sagrado. Cada caja de un juego nuevo era un ritual. Romper el precinto. Oler a plástico nuevo. Colocar el disco con cuidado, como si pudiera romperse con la mirada.

Ese era mi mundo.

Hoy entro en una tienda y no hay mundo. Hay códigos. Cajas vacías con un papel dentro. Hay dependientes que me dicen "mejor cómpralo digital, que ocupa menos".

PlayStation, la que me enseñó lo que era un mundo abierto, la que me hizo llorar con Shadow of the Colossus, la que me hizo sentir invencible con God of War... ahora me dice que lo físico le sobra. Que soy yo el que sobra. Que mi estantería llena de lomos de colores es un estorbo, un capricho de viejo romántico que no entiende el futuro.

Y quizás tengan razón. Quizás soy viejo.

Veo las presentaciones nuevas y no entiendo nada. Pases de batalla. Tiendas dentro del juego. Juegos que no están terminados y te piden 80 euros para luego venderte el final a plazos. Todo es servicio, suscripción, nube. Nada es tuyo. Pagas por no tener nada. Pagas por el derecho a que te lo quiten cuando ellos quieran.

Yo no quiero un servicio. Quiero un juego.

Así que he vuelto. He desempolvado la PS2. La PS1 que hace ese ruido de turbina de avión al leer. La PS3 que suena como si fuera a despegar. He vuelto a ese clic satisfactorio al cerrar la bandeja. A ese "clack" del cartucho entrando.

Y ahí, con el mando con cable, jugando a algo que ya me pasé hace veinte años, es cuando vuelvo a sentirme en casa.

No es nostalgia. Es refugio.
