The data is interesting. The causation is the harder question.
If the chart shows 81 premium shows in 2019, 49 in 2026 — but only 31 when the newer entrants are removed — then the new structures appear to be replacing some of the lost volume, not explaining why the original 81 became 31.
Would love to see the same dataset year-by-year from 2019–26. 📊🥊

The interesting question isn’t whether DAZN could simply ‘become a UBO.’ Under the proposed Ali Revival Act, a UBO would be a regulated boxing entity able to contract fighters, promote bouts, run rankings and award titles — subject to specific disclosure, safety and compensation rules. A broadcaster could potentially be involved in such a structure, but the bill doesn’t automatically turn DAZN into a sanctioning body.

That distinction matters. The proposal creates an alternative league-style pathway alongside traditional promoters and sanctioning bodies; it doesn’t erase the existing system overnight.

Also worth noting the Senate version only cleared committee on September 16, 2026; it is not law yet.

Teofimo Lopez has been ordered to face Jack Catterall, with 30 days to negotiate and an October 21 deadline.

And there’s a knock-on effect for Liam Paro: he has publicly targeted Lopez, but that direct route just narrowed.
