No child should have to worry about money or how Mum & Dad will afford the bills.
@CatherineWest1 will you urge the new PM to keep the commitment to increase all benefits in line with inflation as usual? A real-terms cut in support for struggling families is unimaginable.
It's really not complicated.
We need an asylum system that prioritises the safety and wellbeing of people seeking asylum.

.@ukhomeoffice next week's mass deportation to Zimbabwe will tear black British residents from home & family, incl their children. We demand you cancel it & any other planned charters & urgently look to reform the UK's inhumane & unjust deportation laws. https://t.co/fP25dktXyD
That a family had to lose a son, brother and father; that a teenage girl had to film and post a murder, that millions across the country had to organize and march just for George Floyd to be seen and valued is not justice.
And this verdict is not a substitute for policy change.
@annedraya Yes, thank you for putting this together. Seems to me like good quality, trauma-informed care given at the point it is needed and training the police on how to support people in distress & suicidal might have been a simpler option 🤷♀️
Please read this thread - the statistics, (for those that need them and are not living/ witnessing this day in & day out) that show despite reports to the contrary, there is institutional racism in the UK
@TimCanning668 @PeteOlusoga People ask Tim. It’s racism, not underuse. White people are also more likely to be offered psychological support at points of access (GPs/ psychiatrists etc)
Looking forward to delving into this after @JCWI_UK ‘s fascinating talk with @minnierahman & @La_Cowan The myths vilifying migrants & arbitrary borders needlessly ruin (or end) countless lives #bordernation
@aclientfirst This is so important to discuss & acknowledge! I also fuck up regularly & I encourage my clients to tell me if I’ve said something that has upset or angered them. Such a vital part of the process.
@NEON_UK @SatbirLSingh @JCWI_UK Exactly!Having worked with 100s of asylum seekers, you don’t hear stories of advance plans to come to the UK for the luxury of £37 a week & a 5 year wait to have claim processed, you hear of momentary opportunities to escape traffickers, hasty exits to avoid Taliban recruitors..
