I guess if you’ve waited a couple of decades for a
Perth NRL team - you can wait a few hours more for membership!
Current @perthbears membership queue.
Charlie King is retiring from @abcsport
Charlie is one of the best humans I’ve being lucky enough to work with.
A true gentleman and a fine operator across decades. He’ll be missed. (Shame about his EPL team though 🤣)
Dont say we can’t see things through rose coloured glasses at @abcsport - thanks to the @GoldCoastSUNS for the sunnies.
Swans v Suns coming up from Norwood.
Personally thrilled the AFL Grand Final remains as a day game for the next two years.
I’m convinced the game is better during the day - and we’re there for the game not the entertainment.
The majority of fans want a day GF - Well done to the AFL for listening to them on this one.
Freo fans - you can leave the scuba gear at home today.
Only 1mm of rain is expected after 11am, so much better conditions than first thought for the game v Richmond.
Hope to see you out there - if not - join us on @abcsport and 102.5FM ABC Perth from 12:50pm WST
It was a real thrill to be able to call some games in Perth at the @afcasiancup for @abcsport
Thanks to everyone who made it happen. Collette Gardiner was awesome as our expert.
Shout out to Rach Stowers on the sideline and our wonderful Techs Adrian and Tristan.
Have to hand it to the WA Road safety commission.
It’s a genuine first to have a road safety initiative that forces drivers to continually take their eyes OFF THE ROAD.
I see the demerit points.
But I don’t see a safer road if I’m not looking at it because Drivers are now forced to constantly check no passenger has slipped their seatbelt off their shoulder.
Here’s the whole commentary crew for Day 3 of the Women’s Test between Australia and India at the WACA.
Hope you can join us on ABC Listen wherever you are!
Remembering when fans stopped Dennis Cometti and Brian Lake after a game at Subiaco Oval and ask Lake to take their photo. Cometh the moment. Cometh the man 📸
Dennis and Ian Brayshaw started Saturday Sports Talk on the ABC in 1981.
They teed up a heap of mates to call in thinking they wouldn’t get any traction.
None of them got to air because the phone lines went bonkers.
The show is still going strong 45 years on.
Vale to the GOAT
Sport broadcasting has lost a Giant today.
Thoughts with the family and close friends of the great Dennis Cometti.
He was a brilliant broadcaster who captured some of the greatest moments we’ve seen with a velvet voice and the perfect choice of words.
Den provided the soundtrack to some of Australia’s greatest triumphs.
He was also incredibly giving of his time and advice - something I’ll always be grateful for.
R.I.P.
