One step for mankind…a long way backwards! After Christa Pike, Tennessee Republicans want to be rid of lethal injection & instead use…Electric Chair and Firing Squad https://t.co/8IyE5vh2ed

Good article about various rubbish "Forensic Science" evidence sending innocent people to death row https://t.co/SU2WdktIc4

True too that great comedy existed for a while @JohnCleese until formerly great PWM comedians decided to take up saying fatuous things. (Thats Privileged White Male - like me, tho I doubt I rank among the comic greats!!)

[John Cleese @JohnCleese]

The bottom line is this:

Slavery existed for 5,000 years. Every where

The pyramids were not built by volunteers

In the Eighteen century a group of British people set about making slavery illegal

Eventually they won

Injustice! Spare a thought for 86yo Marita Maharaj here in Bridport: 40yrs ago today Kris was arrested & later put on death row. She knew he was innocent as she was with him at the time the Moo Youngs were murdered in Dupont Plaza Room 1215 https://t.co/kfDtSm0VyR

After the CIA tortured all the Guantanamo 9/11 "High Value Detainees" for years, & after the FBI tried to use 'Clean Teams' to get uncoerced statements, the military court judges have now thrown out ALL the confessions & the military is 0-for-5 https://t.co/9EouHh3MuJ

Typical day for Fla Gov DeSantis & his death penalty ambitions: William Thompson (50yrs on Death Row) stayed due to dementia; James Robertson (in prison 46 yrs) was so deterred that he killed his cellmate to get executed https://t.co/OiscufYr8Y

The UK really does need to look closely at our jury system and, rather than abolish much of it, make it much stronger...

Frankly some people who are American by birth (DJT) do not appreciate what they should really cherish; some of us who actively chose to be American recognize that the Bill of Rights is precious (especially the First Amendment), protecting those who need it...

[Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani @NYCMayor]

This morning, the federal government turned the full force of the Department of Homeland Security against a sitting member of Congress for the offense of disagreeing with the White House.

The path to citizenship should not be weaponized against anyone, including Rep. Ilhan Omar, a naturalized American who swore an oath to this country — the same one that I took.

The promise of citizenship should not be contingent on someone agreeing with the federal government.

Christa Pike horrendous botch is hardly accidental: NYT reports that the new TN protocol did away with "the requirement that execution teams practice inserting an IV line." https://t.co/NQx501gFBX

Gotta love it: study reveals that 87% of UK ‘Christian Nationalists’ don’t go to church https://t.co/VyglBpoIbm Their uniting faith is their fabulously ignorant hatred of Muslims

[Clive Stafford Smith @CliveSSmith]

Exceptional explanation by Dr Joel Zivot why what was done to Christa Pike was not surprising but medically predictable yet many think they should do it again https://t.co/7nQuCNRcRB Madness is to keep doing the same thing expecting a different result

Read this and weep if you support capital punishment: The conservative UK @Telegraph discusses the deranged Pete Hegseth & his deranged idea for a public firing squad for the wheelchair bound erstwhile US Major Hasan https://t.co/vSxPYBC0Yr

This saggy butt pants poem is now by a Nobel laureate!! https://t.co/rVGGpu8Cy2 Courtesy @cori_crider but really Anne Carson

[Clive Stafford Smith @CliveSSmith]

Anne Carson once wrote a poem that described my ‘saggy butt pants’ (I never actually checked!). I’m so pleased to be associated with a well earned Nobel prize winner. https://t.co/ec3WeQ37uw she & Currie have done so much good in the world!

You (or at least Rowan Atkinson) are very right on that...

Not deterred by the Christa Pike fiasco Texas executed an intellectually disabled man last night https://t.co/ejg9z10NOL (but then neither is anyone deterred by their pointless & barbaric death penalty, murder rates still riding high, TX rate 6x UK)
