Evangeline Lilly has called out Disney for being “disgusting and horrible” after they laid off almost all of Marvel's visual development team.
“SHAME ON YOU for turning your back on the people who built the power you are now using to throw them away.”
I always find this question fascinating, because in my view #DunePartThree would do fine. The #Dune franchise has as advantage being able to attract part of the same general audience #AvengersDoomsday attracts, while also attracting cinephiles, premium moviegoing & sci-fi fans, which MCU films have a harder time doing so, so #DuneMessiah can perfectly fill that gap as an option for moviegoers who enjoy a cinematic experience more than a park ride. If the threequel is as well received as the first two films, it has it all to be a Christmas hit and the highest grossing film of the trilogy, regardless of being released day & date with #AvengersDoomsday!
Remember: Movies can coexist during the Christmas corridor even when they appeal to the same audience (ie #Sonic & #Mufasa, #Jumanji & #StarWars, etc) as long as they are well received. Because people have time to check both. It’s not a opening weekend ends it all scenario like in other holidays or normal weekends.
Now, if movies appealing to same audiences can coexist, imagine a situation like Dune & Doomsday, which although there is a overlapping slice of their audience, they individually appeal to a very different kind of moviegoing experiences. It’s almost like the fun, park ride from Barbie vs the craft mastery to be experienced in IMAX even if I had to wait 3 weeks to get a good seat in a good theatre from Oppenheimer.
And I’m not even mentioning the fact that #DunePartThree could very well become a festival or awards darling, attracting the avid award season audiences - another slice of moviegoing the MCU is not likely to attract - for that alone.
People are thinking of Dune the same way they think of a brainless SUMMER blockbuster, and forget that Dune plays in a very different level, quality and intellectually wise
Man of Steel trailer remains one of the best ever made. Russell Crowe’s narration over those quiet, mythic images gives the whole thing an operatic weight, and the build to Zimmer’s rising theme is instantly gripping.
Ben Affleck directing his solo Batman, McQuarrie directing Man of Steel 2 & Green Lantern Corps and Zack Snyder directing Justice League 2 & 3
This would be an insane way to end the Elseworld SnyderVerse! #RestoreTheSnyderVerse
