So Ukraine must protect Russia’s oil revenue to keep American weapons flowing, while its own energy infrastructure is under attack? That’s a strange definition of leverage: make the invaded country pay the price for fighting back.
Washington is reportedly lobbying Ukraine to spare Russian oil refineries while Russian strikes on Ukrainian energy facilities continue. The question isn't whether restraint matters. It's whether both sides are being asked to show it.
“Don’t attack us, and we’ll stop attacking your oil.” That’s the logic of a ceasefire. The real test is whether Moscow wants reciprocal restraint—or simply wants Ukraine to stop fighting back.
❗️“We are open for energy ceasefire. Don’t attack us. Don’t kill our children. And we’ll stop attacking your diesel.
I think it’s a fair deal.”
– Zelensky
Ukraine says its orders are in place and it's waiting for Russia to honor the announcement. Meanwhile, strikes are still being reported. A ceasefire isn't a promise made at a podium—it's a promise proven on the ground.
❗️ The Ukrainian military has received orders regarding the energy ceasefire, but Russia continues to launch strikes
“The Armed Forces of Ukraine have received all the relevant orders. We are awaiting clear details of the talks between the United States and Russia, and we expect Putin to honor what President Trump said,” Zelensky emphasized.
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian president reported that Russian forces had just struck CHP-5, a combined heat and power plant in Kharkiv.
Trump announced an energy ceasefire. Ukraine reports Russian strikes on power facilities followed anyway. Meanwhile, Europe is committing billions to defense. The difference between a peace announcement and actual peace is measured in what happens after the cameras leave.
We had a very detailed discussion with @vonderleyen on virtually all the current areas of our work with the European Union and the decisions needed to support Ukraine. I thanked Ursula for the recent €1.24 billion tranche for defense, which Ukraine has already received. I am grateful for the confirmation that another approximately €3 billion in military support will be allocated as early as next week. These funds will strengthen us.
Of course, I briefed the President on the brutal Russian strikes that continue unabated. Just before our conversation, the Russians struck a power plant in Kyiv with a “shahed” drone, and many districts experienced power outages. Later, there were strikes on energy facilities in the Kharkiv region. And all of this happened AFTER the President of the United States made his statement about an energy ceasefire.
Under these circumstances, reliable support from our partners means real protection for people's lives and a guarantee that the Russians will not be able to break Ukraine. We deeply appreciate all the tangible steps taken to support our defense and our people.
Ursula and I agreed that our teams will have detailed discussions on our next joint actions and the coordination of our steps. We are also preparing to open the negotiating clusters – so that all the remaining clusters are opened by the end of the year. Ukraine’s European path is also a path toward strengthening Europe itself. Thank you!
If Putin wants peace, civilians shouldn’t be running for their lives. Judge a leader’s intentions by what his forces do, not what another president says he wants. Actions are harder to spin than promises.
When the bots go quiet, the question is whether the real supporters are getting quieter too. Nothing exposes an online movement faster than confusing manufactured noise with genuine enthusiasm.
Ukraine’s future shouldn’t depend on the egos of billionaires or the mood swings of politicians. But sovereignty doesn’t run on defiance alone. It needs the resources to survive—and allies who understand that abandoning a partner has consequences.
Washington wants Ukraine to stop hitting Russian oil infrastructure, reportedly threatening to withhold weapons to make it happen. The danger? Pressuring Kyiv to show restraint while Moscow keeps fighting could turn peace diplomacy into a one-sided restriction.
🇺🇸🇺🇦 FT: US now threatens to block arms to Ukraine over its strikes on Russian refineries.
Washington has been lobbying both European capitals and Kyiv to stop the attacks on Russian oil infrastructure, using weapons supplies as leverage.
Ukraine is being asked to restrain its attacks on Russian oil while its own cities face missile strikes. If Washington is using weapons as leverage, the question is simple: does this pressure bring peace—or leave Ukraine more exposed?

Civilians are dead, others are injured, and families are waiting for news. There’s nothing abstract about this war. Every announcement about peace means nothing if people are still being killed moments later. The world must not look away.
Horrific moment of a Russian missile strike in Pisochyn (just outside Kharkiv) just now.
At least 3 people are confirmed killed ‼️ 9 are injured. The fire is still raging, the death tall is likely to rise.
Kharkiv’s thermal power plant is reportedly being bombed by Russia right now in response to Trump's 'Energy Ceasefire'. It has been hit by several missiles. Kyiv is also seeing blackouts. So, that's a Russian no on the energy truce, which Ukraine said they'd accept if real.
Russia attacks Ukraine. Ukraine strikes back. Washington’s response? Threaten to cut Ukraine’s weapons. If confirmed, that’s leverage pointed at the country under invasion—not the one launching it. Moscow doesn’t even need to make the threat.
SCOOP @FT: The Trump administration is threatening to stop the PURL procurement system that provides Ukraine with weapons in order to press Kyiv to halt its deep strikes on Russian energy infrastructure, according to officials in Europe.
The officials, who received calls from American officials on Saturday and Sunday or were briefed on them, said the US was lobbying European capitals and Kyiv in an attempt to end the attacks on Russian oil refineries. The White House declined to confirm or comment on the calls.

🚨🇮🇱🇸🇦 BREAKING: Netanyahu condemns Houthi attack on Saudi Arabia, calls for regional unity
Despite the absence of formal Israeli-Saudi diplomatic relations, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has condemned the Houthi attack on Riyadh International Airport.
Netanyahu offered condolences to Saudi Arabia and called for a Middle East united against common threats, emphasizing regional security and cooperation.
“Destroy them all” is easy to type from a safe distance. The hard part is defining an endgame. If every energy strike invites another, the real question is how to end the war—not just keep the escalation going.
Ukraine says its forces are ready to observe the ceasefire. Reports say Kharkiv’s power plant was struck anyway. A ceasefire takes two sides—but only one side needs to break it for the promise to collapse.
‼️Ukraine’s Armed Forces have received all necessary orders to ensure an energy ceasefire with russia, Zelenskyy says.
‼️Meanwhile, russia has reportedly just struck Kharkiv’s CHP-5 power plant.
So much for a ceasefire.
Ukraine is ready to stop.
Is russia?
The world’s most powerful office loses credibility one boast at a time. When announcements outrun results, strength becomes a performance—and everyone else gets front-row seats.
“Per two X accounts” is doing a lot of heavy lifting here. Before turning someone’s alleged hospitalization into a political punchline, maybe wait for actual evidence. A viral claim isn’t a verified story.
Trump: “We have a ceasefire.”
Zelenskyy: “We weren’t asked.”
Putin: “We never agreed.”
Russia: strikes Kharkiv.
At this point, Trump is negotiating with his own headlines.
Trump has once again announced an energy ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, claiming both sides have agreed.
Zelenskyy: ???
Putin: ???
And literally an hour after Trump’s announcement, Russia struck Kharkiv’s thermal power plant.
A ceasefire announced by Trump, denied by Moscow, and followed by strikes on critical infrastructure. Diplomacy by press release isn't peace. It's a headline that reality keeps humiliating.
Russia just broke the fake energy ceasefire that Trump claimed to have brokered, by striking Kharkiv’s TEC-5 a Combined Heat and Power Plant, the 2nd largest in Ukraine 🇺🇦 using several Banderol Small Cruise Missiles
