i work in the gaming industry and let me tell you, you have no idea what you're talking about. you think they're hitting the bigger bosses who are just bothered about return rates for the company, but they aren't. it's those of us in the lower positions who have to take the brunt of it all. it takes up a lot of our time that could otherwise be focused on actually making games better. instead we're having to sit there monitoring social media and spending hours (sometimes entire shifts) submitting DMCA takedown requests to X, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, etc...

The thing I hear more than anything when I’m out talking to people is just how expensive everyday life has become.

The weekly shop. The commute to work. A trip into town with the kids. Too many people are doing everything right and still finding there’s not enough left at the end of the month.

That has to change.

My number one priority is giving people some room to breathe on the cost of living. That means taking the big decisions needed to make Britain better off, but it also means fixing the everyday things that quietly take money out of people’s pockets.

We've already announced a £2 cap on bus fares in England and a tax cut on electricity bills. And last week, we announced new rules to stop people being trapped in subscriptions they don’t want and a crackdown on fake discounts that make you think you’re getting a bargain when you’re not.

And there’s much more to come.

Because when someone tells me something is making their life harder or more expensive, I don’t think the answer from government should be to shrug its shoulders and say that’s just how things are.

One of the reasons I’m spending this summer getting out across the country is to hear directly from people about what else needs to change.

The best ideas don’t all come from Westminster. More often than not, they come from the people dealing with these problems every day.

So if you see me out and about, come and tell me what you think.

We won’t fix everything overnight. But wherever my government can make life a little easier, fairer or more affordable, we will.

That’s how we give people room to breathe and start bringing back hope.
