I am sickened by these charter amendments on the ballot that will make Daniel Lurie a San Francisco Sultan. We need a council-manager system because it works for CA cities, from big cities like San Jose, to college towns like Berkeley, to small podunk towns like Alturas
I hate to say it, but I think if these charter amendments pass, then the city should be stripped of its right to self-government. And @RafaelMandelman should resign, he wants to take away his own power to help constituents, and that is not OK.
Abolish the strong mayor system. Now is the time for council-manager. Even in crisis, we need a professional manager who can find real waste and cut it without denying essential and equitable services. The mayor has too much power.
FYI Trevor sits on the CA pharmacy board, making his EXTREMELY BAD TAKE even worse because he actually is in a position of power here. He IS the department to be held accountable. His board allowed pharmacies in CA to flood our streets with opiates & did nothing while people died
Prop D is the Project 2025 of San Francisco.
-A lot of issues happened in PSH in the city, we got the HOC
-Gladiator fights happened in jail, we got oversight over the sheriff
-Mohammed Nuru was corrupt, we got a commish over Public Works
Prop D would undo all progress.
Whether you are moderate or progressive, please stop trying to cast people in a false light for being photographed with Jll Jacobo before the allegations came out. He was a prolific figure in progressive circles and nobody knew at the time about his crimes, and they distanced
@SusanDReynolds@BrookeJenkinsSF Check your facts, this photo was taken long before the allegations came out, nobody should be blamed for being around Jacobo before the allegations came out.
...that that faction of SF politics complains about so much.
@RafaelMandelman, in his charter reform, proposed ending the mayor unilaterally putting measures on the ballot, but is supporting this.
I call for the BoS to put a measure on the ballot banning the mayor from unilaterally placing measures on the ballot. This experiment in Jacksonian Democracy has led to 3 measures that, frankly, are bad policy and designed not to solve problems, but as political football
And then Prop F, the proponents try to paint drug screening for CAAP benefits as necessary and that anyone who doesn't support this is a pro-fentanyl dumbhead enabler. However, this policy won't work, and will actually exacerbate the same homelessness and petty crime....
Prop G should not be on the ballot, and neither should any other policy declaration promulgated by the mayor or BoS
It's safe to say that math sequencing has become a political football, and that to solve for this issue requires a willingness to make sure algebra....
...is taught in a manner that prepares youth for the real world while also not leaving others behind. This takes real work from a variety of stakeholders who are willing to work in good faith for solutions.
This is not achieved by wasting ballot space on empty declarations.
