A French moto vlogger "Frenchy" was traveling through India on his bike, He had a lump on his neck. Curious about the cost and process to remove it, he inquired locally and was quoted just $500 for the treatment.

Stunned by both the price and the short waiting time, he went ahead with the procedure. Within a week, the lump was removed. He documented the whole journey on camera.

He later shared that the same type of surgery in Australia after an accident had cost him $12,000.

If manufactured online hate and negative perceptions in the West didn’t exist, India could easily be earning hundreds of billions of dollars every year from medical tourism alone.

And this is why India needs to fight bad image/perception, that is being promoted by India's adversaries.

This photograph is from the 2022 Nabanna Chalo movement, when the @BJP4Bengal organized a march to protest against the corruption of the Mamata Banerjee government.

During the agitation, police personnel under the then @VindeshiSTAR administration reportedly pushed down the respected and senior public figure, @swapan55, despite his age and stature. The incident became a powerful symbol of the treatment faced by opposition voices during that period.

Yet, despite facing physical intimidation and hostility, Swapan Dasgupta remained composed, dignified, and steadfast in his convictions. Today, that same humble, scholarly, and accomplished individual serves as the Finance Minister of West Bengal.

I firmly believe that under his leadership and vision, West Bengal can emerge as one of India's most financially robust, prosperous, and economically dynamic states in the years ahead.

The selective outrage is amusing.

During the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the Returning Officer in Birbhum rejected the nomination of BJP’s candidate, a former IPS officer, over a No Dues Certificate that had to be issued by Mamata Banerjee’s government. He approached the Supreme Court. The petition was dismissed. BJP had to field a replacement candidate at the last minute.

In Basirhat, however, the Returning Officer accepted the nomination of the TMC candidate even though most fields in his form were marked “NA” and he too had not submitted a No Dues Certificate despite being a former MP. His nomination sailed through.

BJP challenged the matter through an election petition in the High Court. The case is now before the Supreme Court.

Curiously, the same voices now lamenting the lack of an immediate remedy were nowhere to be seen then. No accusations of Mamata Banerjee influencing district administrations. No claims of the ECI acting in concert with the ruling party.

The legal position was the same then as it is now.

Of course, it helps explain the sudden concern when the complainant’s wife is a TMC MP and he himself appears to be aspiring for a Rajya Sabha berth.

Jaspal was my teammate, and in many ways, part of a generation that helped shape Indian shooting. He was intense, gifted, and carried the pride of the country every time he stepped onto the range.

This is a huge loss for our sport. My deepest condolences to his family, friends, students and everyone whose life he touched.

जीवन में कुछ घटनाएँ ऐसी होती हैं जिनका तर्क देना कठिन होता है। आप उन्हें संयोग कह सकते हैं, भाग्य या ईश्वर की कृपा, लेकिन जब वे घटती हैं तो भीतर कहीं न कहीं विश्वास और गहरा हो जाता है। मेरे साथ भी एक ऐसी ही घटना हुई थी।

मैं जर्मनी में एक बिज़नेस ट्रिप पर था। काम समाप्त होने के बाद मेरा भाई भारत लौट रहा था और मैं परिवार के साथ तीन सप्ताह की छुट्टियों के लिए इटली जा रहा था। इटली, स्कॉटलैंड और इंग्लैंड में हमारी कारें पहले से बुक थीं। पूरा कार्यक्रम इस तरह बनाया गया था कि मैं हर देश में स्वयं गाड़ी चलाऊँ। म्यूनिख एयरपोर्ट पर भाई को विदा किया, उसने भारत की उड़ान पकड़ी और हम रोम के लिए रवाना हो गए।

उड़ान के दौरान मेरी बेटी ने याद दिलाया कि इटली पहुँचते ही उसे अपना डिसर्टेशन पूरा करना है। उस दिन रात बारह बजे तक उसे जमा करना अनिवार्य था। उसे कम से कम छह घंटे शांत वातावरण और अच्छे इंटरनेट की आवश्यकता थी। हमारा रिसॉर्ट रोम एयरपोर्ट से लगभग ढाई घंटे दूर था, इसलिए समय बहुत महत्वपूर्ण था। सब ठीक चल रहा था, लेकिन तभी अचानक मुझे याद आया कि मेरा ड्राइविंग लाइसेंस मेरे भाई के पास रह गया है।

म्यूनिख में कार किराए पर लेते समय उसने मुझे सह-चालक के रूप में जोड़ने के लिए लाइसेंस लिया था। पहले तो मुझे विश्वास नहीं हुआ। मैंने तुरंत अपना बटुआ निकाला। मुझे पूरा भरोसा था कि वह उसे वापस किसी कार्ड स्लॉट में रख गया होगा। एक-एक जगह देखा, दोबारा देखा, फिर तीसरी बार देखा, लेकिन लाइसेंस वहाँ नहीं था। उसी क्षण समझ आ गया कि एक भयंकर भूल हो गई थी।

स्थिति आसान नहीं थी। मेरा भाई भारत जाने वाली उड़ान में बैठ चुका था। उसका स्टॉपओवर वारसॉ में था और मेरा लाइसेंस उसकी जेब में। बिना लाइसेंस के कार नहीं मिल सकती थी और बिना कार पूरी छुट्टी की योजना ध्वस्त हो जाती क्योंकि हमने जो स्थान चुने थे वे शहरों से दूर प्रकृति के बीच स्थित थे। दूसरी ओर बेटी की चिंता बढ़ती जा रही थी क्योंकि डिसर्टेशन जमा करने की अंतिम समय-सीमा सामने थी।

इस पूरे समय मेरी पत्नी जो काफ़ी धार्मिक हैं, सबसे अधिक शांत थीं। वह बार-बार केवल इतना कह रही थीं सब ठीक हो जाएगा, सब हनुमान चालीसा का पाठ करो। हम हैरान थे कि आखिर प्रार्थना इस समस्या का समाधान कैसे करेगी। लाइसेंस किसी की जेब में था जो भारत जा रहा था और मैं रोम पहुँचने वाला था। दोनों के बीच हजारों किलोमीटर की दूरी थी। फिर भी उन्होंने विश्वास नहीं छोड़ा और अंततः हम सबने मिलकर हनुमान चालीसा का पाठ शुरू कर दिया।

रोम पहुँचने के बाद वही हुआ जिसकी आशंका थी। कार रेंटल ने असली लाइसेंस माँगा। मेरे फोन में उसकी फोटो थी जो उन्होंने स्वीकार करने से इनकार कर दिया। अब हम चार लोग, एक महीने के सामान के साथ एयरपोर्ट पर खड़े थे। मैंने पास के एक छोटे से कॉफी काउंटर से कॉफी ली और वहाँ काम कर रहे व्यक्ति से पूछा कि क्या मेरी बेटी कुछ समय के लिए लैपटॉप चला सकती है। उसने हमारी चिंता भाप कर बिना किसी औपचारिकता के बिजली का पॉइंट और वाई-फाई उपलब्ध करा दिया। कम से कम बिटिया का काम शुरू हो गया।

उधर वारसॉ पहुँचकर भाई ने अपनी जेब देखी, लाइसेंस वास्तव में उसके पास ही था। लेकिन वहाँ कोई कुरियर सुविधा उपलब्ध नहीं थी। ऐसा लग रहा था कि अब कुछ नहीं हो सकता। तभी घटनाओं ने अप्रत्याशित मोड़ लिया। वारसॉ से दिल्ली जाने वाली उसकी उड़ान ढाई घंटे विलंबित हो गई। तभी गूगल पर खोजते हुए मुझे पता चला कि थोड़ी देर बाद वारसॉ से रोम के लिए एक सीधी उड़ान आ रही है। मैंने तुरंत स्क्रीनशॉट भाई को भेजा और कहा कि वह उस गेट तक पहुँचने की कोशिश करे।

वहाँ उसे कैस्पर नामक एक यात्री मिले जो उस उड़ान से रोम आ रहे थे। भाई ने पूरी स्थिति उन्हें समझाई, वीडियो कॉल पर मेरी उनसे बात कराई। उन्होंने बिना किसी स्वार्थ के मेरा लाइसेंस रोम लाने की सहमति दे दी। कुछ घंटे पहले तक जो बात पूरी तरह असंभव लग रही थी, अब उसका समाधान मिल चुका था।

हमें लगभग छह घंटे एयरपोर्ट पर प्रतीक्षा करनी पड़ी। लेकिन इन्हीं छह घंटों में बेटी ने अपना डिसर्टेशन पूरा करके समय पर जमा कर दिया, कैस्पर रोम पहुँचे, मुझे लाइसेंस और कार मिल गई और हमारी छुट्टियाँ केवल कुछ घंटों की देरी के बाद योजना अनुसार पटरी पर आ गई।

आज भी उस घटना को याद करता हूँ तो यह तय नहीं कर पाता कि उसे संयोग/सौभाग्य कहूँ या प्रभु कृपा। इतना जानता हूँ कि उस दिन मैंने विश्वास की शक्ति को बहुत निकट से देखा। जब हर रास्ता बंद दिखाई दे रहा था, तब घटनाएँ इस प्रकार जुड़ती चली गईं कि समस्या का समाधान निकल आया। शायद इसी कारण कहा जाता है कि प्रार्थना हमेशा नियम नहीं बदलती, लेकिन कभी-कभी वह ऐसी परिस्थितियाँ बना देती है जिनसे असंभव लगने वाली बात भी संभव हो जाती है।
