My favorite comment from this podcast episode with @zoecabina is the following: "Quillette's best work of 2025. Very refreshing to hear a liberal/ progressive voice that isn't invested in the anti-Zionist narrative. Thank you both. *This conversation made me realize my problem is more the delusion and moral confusion not the liberal/ progressive lens itself if applied honestly and in search of prosperity and truth."

@_A_khalifa What a beautiful post! I was just thinking of our friend, the late ambassador Eitan Na'eh who was the first in the UAE and the first in Bahrain. Sorry about your loss... your friend clearly saw the light of moshiach in you.
The #UAE sits between the bigotry of low expectations and the resentment of Islamists, one cannot imagine Arab-Bedouin success, the other cannot survive it.
The War on Peace. @Nadav_Eyal_live
"It was a war against regional peace and the agreements that might have secured it. Iran began that struggle more than 30 years ago and effectively won it. The current conflict in the Middle East is inseparable from that legacy."
Iran’s victorious fight against peace for Israel and Palestine has destabilized the Middle East for decades—and the current conflict in the region is inseparable from its legacy, @Nadav_Eyal argues. https://t.co/4E6nwkSYAe
Once a year or so - I write the same op -ed column in @haaretzcom calling on Israel to commit to a hard alliance with Ukraine - and now is a good a time as any to keep grinding
Sabah el kheir, you're late to the party. The Gulf already built its “non-U.S.” partnerships, it’s called the Abraham Accords but Western journalists spent years either minimizing or delegitimizing them. Even Oman was moving toward normalization with Israel under prior leadership.
And before that, Gulf states were expanding their regional security partnerships, bringing Morocco and Jordan closer to the GCC bloc at yet another existential-Islamist moment: the Arab Spring.
And no, the Gulf doesn’t want to abandon America. It wants to double down. But it is also preparing for a world where an isolationist America might abandon it.
To protect themselves, Gulf states should “form better and more durable regional partnerships with countries that are not the United States—and create stronger linkages among themselves,” write @NeilQuilliam1 and @SanamVakil.

When the United States opens our new consulate, Morocco will host both America’s oldest and newest consulates in the world, a powerful symbol of our shared history and our future together.
SECRETARY RUBIO: Here are the clear objectives of the operation. You should write them down:
1. The destruction of Iran’s air force
2. The destruction of their navy
3. The severe diminishing of their missile launching capability
4. The destruction of their factories

While Jews in Europe are constantly being dehumanized, targeted, harassed and in too many cases violently attacked, the Moroccan ambassador in France just hosted a group of young Jewish leaders and entrepreneurs to promote « French-Moroccan relations ». And the hashtag in commentary about engagement with Moroccan Jews? #Moroccofirst Moroccans understand that Jewish safety and inclusion = a thriving civilization and a prosperous country. Folks in Europe & the UK are about to find out what happens when Jews are kicked out en masse.

With all due respect, I met prince Turki Al Faisal in his house in Riyadh and he seemed to understand Islamist extremism then... but he's been missing the mark a lot. Israel is the only one that can be compared to Ukraine because both Ukraine and Israel are struggling against a similar and connected form of imperial terrorism whether it comes from Russia or Hamas.

@alotaiba You're totally right Tareq. Thank you for sharing this sentiment publicly! I think you'll like my latest for Quillette https://t.co/L5iABzWKtn
@NewSamawal Absolutely! I spent some time in Lebanon and the similarities are shocking. Let's hope for a peace deal once Hezbollah is fully neutralized. The parties will be unreal!
It’s also a fake idea that ignores something called the Abraham Accords where Israel signed and vowed and moved to provide The UAE, Bahrain and Morocco with superior military capabilities. The UAE is defending its airspace from Iran today because it integrated Israeli-made Barak and SPYDER systems. But you won’t tell your followers that because it would expose your lies.
