We have a budget!🤝
Thanks to the leadership of @SpeakerMenin, the work of the @NYCCouncil, the invaluable input of advocates, & the administration, we reached an agreement to deliver investments that will support families, create opportunities, & tackle affordability across NYC!
The @NYCCouncil is ready to reach a budget agreement that keeps vulnerable families housed, invests in New Yorkers, and safeguards our city's long-term fiscal future.
There's no time to waste. New Yorkers are counting on these invaluable programs.
CityFHEPS vouchers cost just $54 dollars a day to keep a family housed. It costs $270 a day to support a family in shelter.
Funding CityFHEPs is both the moral and fiscally responsible choice. City Hall needs to work with @NYCCouncil to pass a budget that houses New Yorkers!
Our colleague, Rafael, has been released after being wrongfully detained by ICE. At a time when immigrant communities are living in fear, I’m thankful for @SpeakerMenin’s leadership, which helped secure Rafael’s release. We’ll continue fighting for the dignity of all New Yorkers.
After 158 days in unjust ICE detention, our Council colleague Rafael Rubio was finally released. He followed the rules. He showed up for a routine appointment. And after months of legal action and advocacy, he is home where he belongs. We could not be more overjoyed or inspired by Rafael’s strength. Read his story: https://t.co/mqmTGosHwc
Our next installment of Know Your Neighbor is here! #District23 is diverse and home to many family-owned small businesses, and we will continue to highlight the individuals who keep our communities running. Learn about Michael and Le Bon Pain Bakery!
The diversity of arts and culture is one of the many aspects of our nation that we should highlight! In commemoration of America 250, the @NYCCouncil hosted Poetry in the Park to celebrate the diverse voices, cultures, and communities that have helped shape our city!
The @NYCCouncil recognizes that preventing homelessness is not only more compassionate, it is also far more cost-effective than relying on emergency shelters & repeated interventions. CityFHEPS is a solution, and the expansion of this program is needed for countless New Yorkers!
This week, @NYCParks is hosting a virtual visioning session to discuss plans to reconstruct the Creedmoor Natural Turf Soccer Fields at Queens Farm Park. Registration is required. See the flyer for additional details, and follow the link here to sign up. https://t.co/kfuEwUdoRz
