@MattZirwas Without looking at any comments yet -- I would say it depends on the side effects. The best answer is probably B with 90% efficacy assuming mild side effects- the severity of the side effects are more important than frequency.
@MattZirwas I begged my mom to go on Accutane despite the stigma. Zero regrets—other than wishing I'd started sooner. Many kids are depressed bc of their acne. Working in derm for years, I've seen it change many lives. With proper monitoring and education, patients know what to watch for.
Dermatology is wrong about the sun.
And it's killing people.
I'm a dermatologist. 226 publications. I should know.
Avoiding the sun increases the risk of dying as much as being a smoker.
We can fix it.
For decades, dermatology's message has been simple: avoid the sun. Wear sunscreen. Seek shade. UV causes skin cancer. End of discussion.
That message is incomplete and outdated.
People are dying because of it. Lots of people.
The evidence has gotten strong enough that the field needs to update it.🧵
Povorcitinib for hidradenitis suppurativa.
For non-derms, this is the disease derms dread.
If we could pick one disease to protect our loved ones from, it'd be this.
And it disproportionately affects people who are socioeconomically disadvantaged.
The data looks great, and, just as important as the efficacy is that the safety looks strong.
New hope.

The shots don’t hurt.
Regularly hear “I don’t think it worked, I didn’t feel anything.”
Can't explain it.
Dupi's big weakness in kids is injection pain.
Big strength is interrupting the atopic march.
Will painless dosing outweigh asthma protection?
For many families, yes.
My neighbors, who I never hear a peep from, decided to RAGE for the #NFLDraft.
They all went to Ohio State, so I woke up to screams when Justin Fields went to Chicago.
As I Penn State alum, I was temped to go bang pots & pans when Micah Parsons went next...
but #sleep.
