"The idea that you could have 566 deaths since the first of January in aged care and the department would not be looking at those circumstances is extraordinary"... The inherent ageism in assuming death is "normal" for older people is extraordinary @AusHartford
Really this does make a mockery of 'consulting'... where will we be if we keep 'forgetting' to #askanurse? We can't translate evidence or transform culture or upskill carers if we don't have the most prevalent health profession at the table as well as on the ground. @AgedMatters
It really is extraordinary @GreghuntMP Why is this still happening? Are organisations so habituated to #nurses work that it is completely invisibilised - #askanurse or is it that nurses are so commodified their voices are completely disregarded 🤔@anmf_federal
In Australia, the average length of stay for permanent residential aged care is almost 30 months, or around 2 years and 6 months. This population is frail and need specialist #gerontological care. #AskANurse
@RhondaWilsonMHN Universities can be added to this list @Mcruickshank9#AskANurse - I suspect decision makers don't respect nurses because they don't really know what we do!!
How can an aged care advisory committee be set up with NO #nursing#agedcare workforce representatives @anmf_federal @GregHuntMP how could this have happened? @YunHeeJeon1

Agree with @jsam_1967 why were #nurses left off the #AgedCareAdvisoryCouncil? I know many nurses including myself who would gladly put up their hand for this. @acn_tweet what are you doing about this? @GregHuntMP
