Following my earlier appeal to OPay to compassionately accept Hafsat Abubakar’s public apology and reconsider the action taken against her, many people drew my attention to a paragraph in OPay’s statement which they asked her to take down her post.

The statement made it clear that OPay considered Hafsat’s action to have caused irreparable damage to the company and that it would take all appropriate legal action against her.

I fully understand that OPay has every right to protect its reputation, business and interests and to pursue appropriate legal remedies where it believes it has been wronged. That right is not in question.

My appeal, however, is for compassion and proportionality.

Hafsat has already regretted her action and since the incident has also generated sufficient public discussion and, in my view, that has sent a strong warning to her and to millions of other social media users about the consequences of irresponsible posts.

I therefore make another strong and compelling appeal to OPay management to please and release reconsider the decision to pursue this matter further.

I sincerely hope the Opay will choose compassion over continued punishment and allow this young student an opportunity to learn from the experience and move on with her life.

Accountability is important, but so is forgiveness. Justice should also be tempered with mercy and proportionality.

I appeal to @OPay_NG to please let this matter end here.

Two attempts on his life followed.
With 92% of media coverage being negative toward him while 78% of that for Kamala was positive, he managed to secure a convincing victory in the last election. How do you explain that?
That's when it became undeniable for me: no one faces this level of coordinated and hysterical opposition unless they represent a true existential threat to the system... The system we all know is corrupt and broken. Ordinary politicians don't trigger this kind of coordinated panic.
At that moment, I stopped thinking of him as a great president.
