This is one of the simplest ways to be more consistent at the plate.
“Eyes behind the ball.”
That’s it.
- Track it longer.
- Let it travel.
- Stop trying to hit it out of the pitchers hand and let it come to you.
> Save this for when you need it.
> Send it to a hitter who does.
Roman Anthony is hitting .209 after his 0-4 vs the Blue Jays tonight…
He hit .292 in 2025….
Roman is holding the bat with his flexor digitorum superficialis muscles in both hands this season….
He used his interossei muscles for most of last season…
There are lots of reasons why hitters change the muscles holding the bat but most of the time they don’t even know it’s happening…
If they don’t know it’s happening, they have no idea why it’s happening….
HITTERS: Attack the big part of the field 🎯
- Better Misses -> More Hits 🔑
- Longer in the hitting zone (direction)
- It'll help you stay on the ball (front side)
Bobby Witt Jr.
Example:
• Behind the ball
• Posture at contact
Don't overlook the posture (line)
The more you lean back or lean forward, the path will do the same. (Lean back = more up. Lean forward = down down)
Results have been crazy with this inside-out feel.
Inside-out, directed toward the opposite batter’s box (foul line)
Remember: none of this works if you’re not letting the ball travel deep enough.
Max Lamonica (‘27, MA) w/ a solid outing on the bump. Athletic build w/ projectable frame. FB up to 89, sitting 87 w/ ASR. Worked spots & elevated FB well. Mixed in a late breaking SL. 7 Ks through 4 IP.

3 Medball Drills for Hitters:
1. Side Scoop Toss Through Swing: Allows the athlete to get into their natural swing pattern and train rotational power closely related to the swing without hindering mechanics.
2. Step-Back Scoop Toss: Great for teaching athletes how to load and explode out of the back hip.
3. Walk-In Scoop Toss: Adds momentum to the movement which places a greater demand on the front leg deceleration while facilitating with sequencing.
Important Note:
Medball Weight: 2-4 LB. Preferably 2 LB.

VIDEO: “5 Step System for Game Ready Connection” in replies 👇🏼
Yeah, I know the Mookie video gets overused… but what he says here is absolute gold. Some of the best info on social media, period.
Mookie shows how going back lets the lat pull the top arm. In a game, when he lets that move flow into the ground, the chain fires correctly: ground → pelvis → torso/lat → hands. That’s why the barrel turns from the middle instead of being pushed.
Trevor Bauer explains the same thing on the mound: rotation pulls the lat, the arm just whips through.
Swing or throw it’s the same principle. Stay connected, let rotation compress into landing, and the sequence works. Cut it off, and you’re just pushing.
And here’s the truth:
Once you understand this connection as a parent or coach, you can’t mess a kid up it’s how the body naturally moves around center mass. The mistake comes from listening to people who’ve never taken health or fitness seriously. If they don’t understand how the body sequences, they’ll lead you down the wrong road.
This isn’t a “method.” It’s just how the body works. And the barrel path? It’s not something you force behind center it happens because the sequence is right.
