PARENTS: When you blame other things (officials, coaches, conditions, circumstances, teammates) for the situation your son or daughter is in, then you're essentially teaching your child how to be an excuse maker. Set the standard. Be the standard.
PLAYERS: Paying attention to somebody is a sign of respect. You might disagree w/the person, be bored, frustrated, or dislike what's being said, but you can still show respect & demonstrate what kind of CHARACTER YOU HAVE. It says more about YOU than it does the person talking.
โTough players can take criticism w/out feeling the need to talk back or give excuses. Tough players project confidence w/their body language. Tough players go as hard as they can for as long as they can. Tough players are great teammates.โ (Jay Bilas)
COACHES: Coaching isn't just a job or paycheck. Itโs a 24/7/365 commitment to positively impact people, make a difference, and change lives forever. It's a way of life that leads to improving other lives. It's taking someone from where they are to where they need to be.

"When you see a teammate do something that is really good, tell him.
If you see something he can do better, build him up and help him with that." (Jon Scheyer)

COACHES: Our team's true culture is like an iceberg with most of it unseen. The unseen part makes or breaks our team. The things that go on in a cafeteria, dorm room, back of the bus, or locker room is our culture. How are we equipping our players for when we're not around?
PLAYERS: Your results are a reflection of your habits, choices, and what you value most. Everybody says they want certain results but they don't always do what's necessary to achieve those desired outcomes. What you do is what you believe. Everything else is just talk.
COACHABILITY is the ability to make something positive out of any criticism, suggestion, feedback, or input you might receive. It's the ability to grow, improve, and develop in any situation. It's the mentality to always be looking for ways to get better.
