I hope South Dakota residents know how lucky they are — because I’m extremely jealous.
The volleyball ecosystem forming around South Dakota is remarkable:
• Two extremely successful Division I programs
• National-caliber events in Sioux Falls featuring Power Conference programs
• The #1 brand in the sport playing AT South Dakota State this fall
• Outstanding youth volleyball tournaments
• Strong regional fan support
South Dakota is building one of the strongest volleyball cultures in the country. Congrats!
Not sure whether to call it a non-conference or non-league schedule, but either way the Jackrabbits put together an absolute dandy for the fan base. The biggest brand in the sport, Nebraska, visits on September 2nd. If that wasn’t enough, fans also get a short drive to Sioux Falls to watch SDSU battle a pair of Big Ten programs.
SEVEN top-100 teams on the schedule. This isn’t a typical mid-major schedule, this is the schedule of a program expecting to compete at a very high level in 2026. Love it!
In a span of two weeks this fall, Nebraska will play matches in venues that are the primary homes of NFL, NHL, WNBA and MLB teams.
Aug. 27: AT&T Stadium, Arlington, Texas
Aug. 29/30: T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas
Sept. 4: Wintrust Arena, Chicago
Sept. 6: Wrigley Field, Chicago
Plus, the Huskers have a match at South Dakota State scheduled for Sept. 2.
The inaugural @sdlottery College Volleyball Classic is coming to the Sanford Pentagon Sept. 18–19!
Featuring @GoJacksVB, @SDCoyotesVB, @GopherVBall & @UWVolleyball in a two‑day, four‑match event.

Summit League spring volleyball starts next week!
Time to preview the South Dakota State Jackrabbits.
First, consider this: 50 wins over the last two years with a 31–1 record in Summit League play. An incredible accomplishment.
The Jackrabbits don’t return nearly the same percentage of sets played as South Dakota, with All-Summit First Teamer Sydni Schetnan gone along with starters Annalee Ventling-Brown and Maggie Meister from last year’s roster. But this is South Dakota State.
Two-time Summit League Player of the Year Sylvie Zgonc returns, along with All-Summit First Teamers Madison Burr and Rylee Martin. Add in All-Freshman selection Hannah Klein, a couple of transfers, returning contributors, and a strong recruiting class, and I think Coach Dan Georgalas, the back-to-back Summit League Coach of the Year, and his staff will still have the team to beat.
All eyes will be on Brookings on September 2 when Nebraska comes to First Bank & Trust Arena to face the Jackrabbits. I already have a reminder set for July 14, when tickets go on sale to the general public. Can’t wait!
It's time to lock in for another season of @GoJacksVB at First Bank & Trust Arena! 💥 Current season ticket holders may renew their tickets & purchase their seats for the Nebraska match by logging into their account (https://t.co/KwZZOiX9cu).
