In honor of #MarchMadness, here’s my starting 5 supplements that enhance athletic performance:
1. Caffeine
2. Creatine
3. Beta-alanine
4. Nitrates
5. Whey protein
Based on research, these will score you the most points. Other supplements will just turnover your money.
Getting ahead of your health in your 20’s will pay HUGE dividends in your 30’s.
Using young age as an excuse for poor lifestyle habits is a costly mistake.
The action (or inaction) you take today is contributing to the person you will be tomorrow.
Choose wisely!
Illusion of knowledge is more dangerous than ignorance:
It's Okay to say "I don't know" and admit that you don't know it.
It's shameful to pretend that you know everything.
It’s estimated that 95% of serotonin is produced in our gut
Serotonin is often called the body’s “feel good” chemical for the role it plays in mood regulation
Want to improve your mood? Eating a diet rich in fiber (fruits, veggies) + fermented foods (yogurt, kombucha) can help
14. Be intentional with your interactions. Being engaged and attentive when talking to someone is the best gift you can give them.
15. Understand you are exactly where you’re supposed to be. Our desire for future comfort is the biggest thief of life.
A year ago I wrote down 15 keys to health and happiness.
Health is more than exercising and eating well.
It’s who you surround yourself with, what you watch, what you read, and everything else that consumes your attention.
Here they are ➡️
12. Do something difficult and challenging every day. This is the ultimate key to growth.
13. Read a lot. Seek wisdom from the people who have walked the path you’re on. Learn from them and understand what patterns and habits lead to their success.
Being a great coach is so much more than knowing the X’s and O’s of your job.
It’s leading people towards becoming better versions of themselves.
It’s putting people in difficult situations to show them that overcoming adversity breeds resiliency & confidence in their life.
Learning how to channel your emotions to achieve your goals is arguably one of the most difficult, but necessary, skills to learn
In general, anything that makes you feel nervous is an opportunity for growth
Embracing those feelings adds value & confidence to your future self
Having a plan of action is good, but don’t spend so much time developing the “perfect plan” that you avoid putting in the work.
An imperfect plan with consistent action will always be superior to a perfect plan with occasional action.
Important to note that just because something is “linked” to something else doesn’t mean it’s the cause. Instead, it’s a piece to a bigger puzzle.
Topics such as anxiety and depression are multifactorial and require much deeper context to fully understand.
Interesting study looking at the link between food quality & mental health
1. Eating more fruits & veggies lead to reports of more positive mental health and less symptoms of anxiety & depression
2. Savory snacking was associated w/ increased anxiety
