Football is the only sport in MA that has an acclimation schedule with 3 days in helmets, 2 days in Uppers then full pads on Day #6 & 1st scrimmage on Day #8. Hockey & Lacrosse start in full gear with no limitations on Day #1 and often scrimmage on the 3rd/4th day of pre-season.

I can provide plenty of reasons why the 8/24 start date for football will have negative consequences for student-athletes, but I am still waiting for just one good reason how the new date benefits students? One of the most frustrating decisions I have ever seen by the MIAA Board.
