It’s a drill to work specifically on pass rushing/pass blocking, the same way 9 on 7 or Pods are designed to work specifically on the run game. They all have inherent advantages/disadvantages, but serve very specific purposes in development.

The reality is, 2nd & 7+ and 3rd & 3+ are generally greater than 75% pass, even before taking into account other confirming factors like backfield set, O-Line stance, verbal communications, etc. So there are many situations in team periods or games where it’s essentially a guaranteed pass rushing situation.

One thing I have long held an issue with is the posting and dissecting of every single 1v1 rep from practices on social media. Anyone can look like a hero or dud on any given rep. Especially if you’re trying new moves or techniques, which is exactly what practice is for.
