Honoured to have been able to write for the Broadbent Institute about the working-class movement my ancestor, William Coaker, led and the lessons we can take from it today to building workers power & fighting the far-right.
"The transformative program of the FPU heightened economic power and instilled a community pride in towns across Newfoundland [...] inspiring hope for a better future and way of life for Newfoundland’s working-class fishermen." – @CoakerDavid

Haha, just a joke, pay no mind to THE ARTICLE YOU ARE READING AND THE TEMPORAL CONTEXT IN WHICH IT IS BEING PUBLISHED AND THAT THIS WOMAN WORKED FOR THE HERITAGE FOUNDATION
Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) tells NOTUS he’s unimpressed by the allegations against Graham Platner
Whitehouse: “Seems like a lot of nothing. I mean, the only one who had anything to say that seemed ‘unsettling’ was a woman who works for right-wing political operations.”
#MaineSenate
@AaronRegunberg People are missing the Times' admission that they read all her texts and messages from this time, and they found no corroboration. They even read her diary. Nothing. All they found was a text saying she wanted to campaign for Collins.
Here's the chair of the Independent Women’s Forum, the right-wing group where Lyndsey Fifield is a fellow, bragging about helping draft Susan Collins's remarks when she voted to confirm Brett Kavanaugh.
Fifield is NYT's main source, and the only one alleging anything physical.
Dem Sen. Whitehouse says he’s “not impressed” by the allegations against Graham Platner in the latest NYT report.
“Seems like a lot of nothing. I mean, the only one who had anything to say that seemed ‘unsettling’ was a woman who works for right-wing political operations.”
It's beyond clear that Fifield was the person who went to Andrew Kaczynski about the tattoo as well. Kaczynski's piece mentions texts with "acquaintances discussing the tattoo months before he said he knew about it" and Fifield also showed NYT texts.
NEW: From NDP Leader Avi Lewis about Billy Bishop airport:
“The choice facing the Prime Minister is clear. Premier Ford is in the middle of a land grab and the federal government has both the power and the responsibility to stop this irresponsible and anti-democratic move.”
The Man is going overboard with their Platner smear campaign. We get it! you don’t want anyone messing with your Israel&Oligarchy bone! but this is getting absurd
Kinda weird that liberals were hoping and praying and getting all excited about the possibility of Platner having SA allegations.
What is this? Tit for tat?
One of my coworkers who was very upset about the sexting is actively offended by this article. She asked me "how is this different from anything we already knew about him?"
Let’s be clear—the New York Times ran a hit piece on Platner using the uncorroborated allegations of a former Heritage Foundation staffer who told her friends that she would campaign for Susan Collins.
Seems like the Platner stuff was all just a tabloid-tier hit piece about he was a meanie head to his ex girlfriends and maybe had a bad temper. No real assault or criminal accusations. Just character attacks.
Move along. If Platner runs a good campaign, he is still favored to beat Collins is this is all they have.
NYT published uncorroborated accusations against @grahamformaine of “unsettling” and “toxic” behavior that came from a Heritage staffer who previously worked for a conservative org that backs Collins.
