#AI and cybersecurity are no longer niche sectors — they are foundational to Canada’s economy, defence readiness and digital independence.
@UNB’s McKenna Institute will launch a new cybersecurity talent program, supported by @Bell, to help ensure Canada develops the expertise it needs at home — strengthening 🇨🇦’s economy and supporting critical infrastructure, defence and economic growth.

Canadian universities are launching new talent partnerships in India — 13 new agreements for research, hybrid campuses, and AI centres of excellence.
This will provide invaluable experience for students and strengthen our world-class universities on both sides of the Pacific.
@univcan's Michelle @CoatesMather at @Carleton_U for the CMVF3C Symposium on building Canada’s civil defence talent ecosystem.
Universities are foundational to Canada’s civil defence readiness preparing civilian talent and drive research that strengthens sovereignty and resilience. Proud to see #CdnPSE recognized through this critical conversation.

Canadian universities are key partners in strengthening Canada’s sovereignty and security. 🇨🇦
@WesternU’s partnership with TKMS through the Canadian Defence & Dual-Use Ecosystem (#CDDE) shows how university research — from AI to marine studies — delivers real-world benefits for Canadians and national defence.
Universities are helping build a resilient, made-in-Canada defence research ecosystem.

Yesterday’s budget is a clear recognition of universities as essential partners in building the infrastructure that keeps Canada strong and drives national progress.
Through the $51 billion Build Communities Strong Fund, the government recognizes that campuses are more than classrooms — they are anchors of community life, driving research, learning and economic growth in every region.
Universities are ready to work with government to turn this investment into lasting results for Canadians.

I support free speech. As Dimitri said: This is not that.
Reminds me of this quote:
“If I were to remain silent, I’d be guilty of complicity.”
Please wake up 🇨🇦.
“The moment you allow hatred of one group to go unchecked, it becomes a contagion that will spread to all.”
@ebono 🫶 Rest in peace Mafia. The friend dad who gave the boys a stern look at the door, let us fill the house with shoes and laughter, and always had wise words (and a few zingers) to share. 🤍
Train the talent.
Build the infrastructure.
Boost research and innovation.
Universities are already delivering. Let’s back them.

In my latest @TheHillTimes op-ed: If we’re serious about fixing housing and infrastructure, we can’t leave out one of Canada’s biggest untapped resources — our university campuses.
Time to make student housing and campus infrastructure part of the solution: https://t.co/OpMXRkqXsJ
The Government of Canada has just released a federal report on antisemitism in Ontario’s K–12 schools, authored by Professor Robert Brym of the University of Toronto. The findings are deeply troubling and confirm what many Jewish parents have long reported: antisemitism in schools is systemic, widespread, and often ignored or enabled by educators and administrators.
The report documents Nazi salutes, Holocaust diminishment, violent antisemitic rhetoric, and teachers promoting genocidal slogans such as “From the River to the Sea” in class.
In nearly half of all reported cases, schools failed to investigate.
In many instances, incidents were dismissed entirely or it was recommended that the Jewish student be removed. Many students now hide their Jewish identity out of fear, while others are left uncounted because boards refuse to recognize cultural or ethnic Jewish identity.
The findings of the report align with incidents documented in B’nai Brith Canada’s 2024 Audit of Antisemitic Incidents, which reported a record surge in antisemitic harassment and highlighted alarming cases in educational settings.
B’nai Brith Canada is calling for the immediate adoption of our Policy for Combatting Antisemitism in Schools (PCAS) - https://t.co/MCB3TPK5k8.
The PCAS provides a clear, enforceable framework aligned with the report’s findings. The policy mandates staff training, recognizes the full spectrum of Jewish identity, prohibits school-sanctioned antisemitic activity, and establishes real accountability.
Ontario’s Ministry of Education must act now to uphold Canadian values and protect the next generation of Canadians from hate-filled indoctrination.

Canada helped pioneer #AI. Now we must lead in adopting it.

@UWaterloo, @CIGIonline and @cslsottawa are working together on the Canadian AI Adoption Initiative in a nation-building effort to accelerate AI across sectors, strengthen productivity and drive economic growth.
Exactly what #CdnPSE is here to deliver.

This isn’t just a funding issue — it’s a sustainability challenge. @gabrielbmiller says long-term planning is key if universities are going to meet Canada’s research, workforce and talent goals.
#CdnPSE#EconomicGrowth
Thought-provoking piece by @Anthony__Koch. If we care about talent, the workforce, commercialization and national strength, we need to stop treating universities like a political wedge and start treating them like the asset they are.
