Before AI agents can pay autonomously, they need clear limits on what they can spend—and security built into every transaction.

Our own Lucas explored this at the 4th Cross-Border Digital Finance Compliance Conference in Shenzhen, hosted by MPayPass.

Three takeaways:

• Small payments, big infrastructure demands. Agent micropayments need infrastructure that makes frequent, low-value transactions practical.

• Autonomy needs boundaries. Cobo’s MPC-powered Agentic Wallet lets agents transact without holding a complete private key. Pact policies define who they can pay, spending limits, and when human approval is required.

• Security goes beyond the key. Stablecoin transfers generally can’t be reversed once confirmed. Transaction screening and checks on what gets signed are essential—even when the key itself is secure.

Building for agent payments starts with getting the wallet, controls, and stablecoin infrastructure right.
