I am in awe and constant admiration of the Women who continue to empower and inspire us every day. Our world and the global landscape is balanced with you in it. Continue to enrich our lives and jump those hurdles because you can and you will. #IWD2019#BalanceforBetter
The adoption of the Pact for the Future, the Global Digital Compact and the Declaration on Future Generations opens pathways to new possibilities and opportunities.
We have unlocked the door to #OurCommonFuture.
Now it is our common responsibility to walk through it.
The Summit of the Future is an essential step to make global institutions more legitimate, effective & fit for the world of today & tomorrow.
With outcome discussions in the final stretch, my appeal to member countries:
Show the world what we can do when we work together.
“My message to young people worldwide:
Do not accept that what we have today is inevitable.
If we want to change the world, we need to unite, mobilize, and fight for a better future for all.”

An incredible Bougainvillean & Pacific leader just gave a powerful talk at #StateofthePacific “Land communicates, rocks communicate. Put land & environment ahead of the people for proper healing. I do not ask for life support. Reciprocate & give what is owed to Bougainville.”
During my visit to Tonga, I heard directly from civil society and local communities how climate change and sea level rise are upending their lives.
I urge Pacific countries to continue raising their voices for #ClimateAction.
If we save the Pacific, we save the world.
Pacific nations are on the frontlines of climate change. Secretary-General @antonioguterres calls for urgent climate justice, fair funding & stronger international support for these communities. https://t.co/QIDY0LEpro
HRH The young Prince Taufa'ahau Manumataongo of the Kingdom of Tonga, on the margins of the PIF Leaders meeting, graced the Youth High-Level Inter-generational Dialogue with a moving message, wishing to still be surrounded by Blue Oceans with whales, fish and reefs in 2050 - a heartfelt plea for a brighter and resilient future. What every young soul in our Blue Pacific longs to still have in generations to come. HRH Prince Taufa'ahau's "poignant message was inscribed on a Tongan tapa scroll and affixed to a piece of Tongan sandalwood (“ahi”)." This was presented to the Secretary-General of the United Nations Mr. António Guterres [PC: Elizabeth Kite :)]
A few days in Tonga offered me a front row seat to how people here have to endure the impacts of the climate crisis on a regular basis:
From torrential rains & flash floods to rising sea levels forcing families to relocate.
The world must take urgent #ClimateAction now.
For students of Pacific interventions (and there are still some of us around) the evolution - or devolution - of the region's crisis management architecture is one to watch closely. #PIFLM53

Plans by French President #Macron and Overseas Minister #Darmanin to change voting rights for the provincial assemblies and Congress in #NewCaledonia are polarising the community. Massive rallies this morning by both supporters and opponents of independence.
Pt 2: Dad declined citizenship because as a retiree he likes to go on holidays and explore the world - so hasn't been in NZ long enough. 50 years is not long enough - yet - i can come from anywhere else outside of the #Pacific and get #NZ#citizenship.
#citizenship for elderly Samoans welcomed. How about #Tongans who have contributed to NZ for over 50 years? My DAD - never once relied on welfare, subjected to the Dawn raids, paid his taxes, contributed to economy but declined for citizenship at 74yrs.
