In 2022 I self-published my first novel on Amazon KDP.
Two years later, after the site kept prompting me to review a book I'd bought — my own — I gave in and wrote one. It opened with: "Apparently, I can review my own book!"
Against the rules. I'd forgotten.
A thread.
@AmazonHelp No. I deleted the review. Amazon didn’t delete it.
Amazon has blocked my book and I don’t know how to get it reinstated.
I deleted the review to fix the problem.

@AmazonKDP — the review is deleted. I've apologised. I'll take whatever correction you want to give me.
I'd just like to know what it is.
@AmazonHelp I got nothing from this. The chat put me through to a person who sent the details to the review team with the expectation I would hear something within 4 business days. Well, it's the 23rd now - a load more than 4 business days.
What's going on @AmazonKDP
@AmazonHelp I would like to add that @AmazonKDP is an amazing service. Without it, self-publishing was almost impossible. I believe it was the first service to make this process simple for everyone.
I wouldn't have published anything without it.
But it looks like I need to go elsewhere.
@AmazonHelp Okay. Thank you anyway.
It's nice to get help here at least.
One thing I would say, is can we get the community guidelines changed?
They say, if you review your own book, the review will be deleted.
What it should say is, if you review your own book the book will be blocked.
