Sky Get into Tech class of 2020, PHP enthusiast, career change seeker, hobby collecting is my hobby, BTS and other Kpop bands are my coding soundtrack.
Finished at my job, which was an emotional end of an era, and then took a break for a few weeks. Back on Twitter and will still be tweeting about coding, but not returning to 100DaysOfCode for the time being. Who knows, maybe I'll re-start in future though!
Day 20: Won't have time to do coding tomorrow and Fri so covered Java Array Lists today. Winding down my current job before a break and then a new challenge - tomorrow and Fri are the last days of notice I'm working in the Language Services industry! #100DaysOfCode
Day 19: Hectic week this week (and it's only Tues) busy keeping important plates spinning, so coding energy bank is low in the evenings, but worked on some more arrays in Java today. Little and often is better than never, I keep telling myself! #100DaysOfCode
Day 17: Started delving into conditional flow with Java! Luckily most is fairly similar to PHP so Codecademy lesson was a breeze, just need to do some practice now! #100DaysOfCode
@JavaScriptCoff1 It won't flower again, and will eventually die, if I were you once you've separated off any babies, chuck your old one/compost it if possible and nab the pot, else it'll just be fading with not much reward for the valuable plant space it's taking up!
Day 16: Made a teeny git repo just for fun to practice Java classes/objects/methods, on the theme of music/vinyl! https://t.co/Uf65mu4Unt
Neater now I've learned better file separation, I had thought everything I wrote in Java looked too long and messy #100DaysOfCode
@JavaScriptCoff1 When the flower turns brown and dry, cut off the flower, but leave the little guy until it's grown a bit bigger, then you can separate it and plant it! He's a 'pup' haha

@JavaScriptCoff1 Yeah they're such colourful pineapples aren't they! It might have a mini new plant that starts growing right by the stem on the outside once it's finished flowering, exciting. I like the sunset colours on yours :)
@Varunprashar@xaelbot Not yet! But learning that Java needs type specifying makes me appreciate that PHP works a lot of that stuff out for you without you having to specify explicitly :)
Day 15: Learned about Java methods on Codecademy. Data types in Java give me a newfound appreciation for how intuitive PHP is with data types! Really making me stop and think about what I want to return from these methods here, Java #100DaysOfCode
@LifeLongThinker I fall into this trap; it's easy to feel like I have so much to learn, how can I have an opinion when others are so experienced? Great gentle reminder to tread the fine line between ego, common sense, and not taking things to heart too much! The perfect Venn diagram, haha.
Do you have a 'settling' routine when starting a coding session at home? Mine is getting a pen and paper, sitting on the sofa that doesn't face the telly, and meandering round the internet including twitter for 15 mins before actually getting anything done!
Day 14: I have got Source Control working in VS Code with GitHub, this makes me very happy! 🥳 Playing around with some classes now as a 'fun reward', #100DaysOfCode what have you done to me 😆
Day 13: Switching things up with a pre-work session! Felt a bit time pressured with one eye on the clock but it's been a nice bit of morning space to tackle Java classes. Going to stay on this for another session tomorrow and not get tempted to rush on. #100DaysOfCode
Day 12: Sluggish brain today but did another Codecademy Java lesson, and then some edabit practice, doing exercises relating to what I learned so far. I LOVE edabit, makes me feel accomplished even at the very beginning of learning Java! #100DaysOfCode
Day 11: Completed Codecademy's first two lessons in the Java introduction course. Allowing myself to take my time and type type type all the simple stuff again and again to cement it in my brain. Tried out Edabit too, really enjoying it! #100DaysOfCode
Day 10: Open up VS Code. Lots of VS Code errors about Java greet me. Oh bugger, I say. Cue re-install of Java JDK, cue Windows Path surgery. BUT I finally manage my Java 'Hello World' rite of passage in VS Code with no errors. I feel smug. And that's the hour. #100DaysOfCode
