FTO. A. Kirchenbauer is excited to show off his new front mounted bike rack! This mount allows the patrol bike to secure to his push bar, which allows him to drive to different locations and deploy his bike quickly.

On 3/19/24, SGT. Brewer was able to attend a local elementary school for their career day!

He was able to show off one of our patrol vehicles. All the junior police officers were able to ask SGT. Brewer all their questions regarding their future careers in law enforcement.

On 3/22/24, SGT. J. Comfort was promoted to the rank of sergeant. He was surrounded by his family, friends, and colleagues during the ceremony.

Deputy Chief Myers recently attended the “Carolina Command College 2024” in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Numerous command staff members across South Carolina were in attendance with him.

Our command staff and multiple officers took on the challenge of cleaning up our parking bay and storage room today.

Having more area to park allows the College of Charleston Department of Public Safety to continue striving towards expanding our patrol vehicle fleet.

CPL. M. Williams, OFC. W. Chilton, and Trainee Jefferies were able to attend the College of Charleston’s Spring Career Exploration Fair at the Gaillard Center. They were able to speak with multiple students while attending the fair.

On 2/21/24, OFC. W. Chilton successfully passed the “Special Basic Class” hosted by the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy.

On 2/24/24, OFC. W. Chilton was sworn in by Chief Searson. He was surrounded by his family, his girlfriend, and colleagues.

The College of Charleston Department of Public Safety would like to thank the City of Charleston Police Department (@CharlestonPD) for extending an invitation to join them at their active shooter training today. Five of our officers were able to attend this training.

While patrolling at a recent women’s basketball game, Sgt. Brewer was approached by future Police Officer Griffin! Griffin was able to speak with Sgt. Brewer and check out one of the College of Charleston Department of Public Safety’s patrol vehicles.

Detective / Training Officer Comfort assisted another agency by certifying their officers to use Oleoresin Capsicum (commonly known as pepper spray). This certification process contained a presentation, a written test, a scenario based practical, and a level one exposure.

CofC DPS mourns with the Temple University Police Department. Officer Christopher Fitzgerald was killed in the line of duty by a suspect that has since been apprehended. He was 31 years old and leaves behind a wife and four children. Keep them in your thoughts.
